The Path to Norman
Gentry Williams came to OU as a very highly-ranked defensive back in the 2022 class. A Tulsa product, Williams and the Sooners circled each other for years. Williams suffered an ACL injury in his junior season, but came back strong for his senior season. Many top programs recruited the young man, including USC, Florida, Michigan, and Georgia. OU landed a committment the fall before his signing day, but had to stick with him through interest from other schools and a coaching change. The Sooner state ended up keeping Williams home to play.

Highlights
This Season
Williams brings a lot to the defensive back group, with solid size and elite speed. There are plenty of options at corner, where Williams is likely to play, for OU this season. There’s already been buzz for the corner over the offseason, but this season will likely be a redshirt year. Williams will have a chance to continue strengthening his knee and adjusting to the college game before becoming a bigger factor in 2023.
