The Path to Norman
Brian Asamoah’s offer came the spring of his junior year of high school. His original plan was to commit to a school a month later, but he postponed that commitment. He made plans to attend the ChampUBBQ for quite some time, certainly showing a high level of interest in the Sooners. Brian had nothing but great things to say about the visit, really enjoying his time spent with Coach Kish. At first, it looked like he’d be committing immediately following the visit. OU fans had to wait a little longer than that for a commitment, but once Brian got his parents to Norman for the first game of the season, he committed just a few days later.

TFB got to know his family a little better shortly after his commitment; Sooner nation can see more about them here.
Career So Far
Asamoah took a redshirt season in 2018. The next season, his playing time kicked into full gear. Asamoah played in 13 games in 2019 at linebacker. He earned his reps at the WILL linebacker spot, which DaShaun White headlined, along with Ryan Jones and Caleb Kelly.
In 2020, Asamoah transitioned into a starting role. He played in every game and started in all but two, leading the team in tackles while showing off his athleticism.

Highlights
This Season
By all accounts, Asamoah is ready for a big year. With two seasons of experience, he is ready to be a leader on this defense. All signs point toward Asamoah starting at WILL and David Ugwoegbu starting at MIKE, bringing a lot of athleticism to the linebacker spot. It’s early, but an all-conference level season looks to be in store for Brian Asamoah.
