The Path to Norman
Jeremiah Criddell, a very highly-ranked defensive back out of California, had offers from about every top program in the country. His first offer, Oregon, won a commitment for about half a year before his signing day. However, he opened his recruitment back up shortly before early signing day, with OU and Oregon seeming to be the two main contenders.
Criddell ended up announcing live on ESPN’s coverage of the early signing day. Suffice it to say, the staff was officially pretty happy about it.

Career so Far
Criddell took a redshirt season in 2019, but was able to enjoy three games of playing time. He seemed to bounce around in the secondary during the season as the coaches found the best spot for him.

2020 Season
The staff looked at Criddell all over the secondary this offseason, but seems to be settling (mostly) in at nickel. There, he will be competing with Bookie for the job this season. The staff has tried a whole host of defensive backs at nickel over the past few years (Tre Norwood, Justin Broiles, Robert Barnes, Chanse Sylvie, Jaden Davis, and Criddell all come to mind) to compete with Bookie, but none have taken the job. Newcomer Justin Harrington was supposed to compete at NB as well; with his injury, it looks likely that Jeremiah will be the main force behind Bookie. Sooner Nation really wants to see him on the field; whether it’s at nickel or elsewhere, they’ll be rooting for Criddell to earn playing time often in 2020.
