The Path to Norman

Rocky Beers went through a very winding road to get to Norman. He played high school football in Colorado and was part of the 2021 Air Force class. He spent two seasons there, then transferred to FIU for two years. After the 2024 season, Beers switched to Colorado State. A big season and a transfer later, he joined the Sooners in early 2026. At the time, his sister (Reagan) was a standout for the OU Women’s Basketball squad.

Career so Far

Beers took a redshirt season in his first year at Air Force, playing in just one game. The following year, he played in 11 games, mostly on special teams.

In 2023, Beers played in 11 games at FIU, seeing four starts at tight end. He was a factor in the passing game and notched over 150 yards for the year. The following season was an unfortunately short one; Beers suffered a season-ending injury in the season opener.

Beers’ lone season at Colorado State was a solid one. He played in 12 games, starting nine of them, and logged almost 400 yards receiving.

This Season

The tight end room, after being virtually non-existent for several seasons, received a complete overhaul over the offseason. The Sooners brought in NFL legend Jason Witten to coach the room and return it to a position of strength for OU. Beers, Hayden Hansen, and Jack Van Dorselaer were all brought in as transfers to replace the four main tight ends from 2025, with Tyler Ruxer and Ryder Mix entering as freshmen. Beers and Hansen look likely to lead the room this year and hopefully show how much the tight end spot can open up the OU offense.
