The Path to Norman
Bowe Bentley was the main target for Ben Arbuckle at QB in the 2026 recruiting class. The Texas high school product saw the offers pour in after leading Celina to an undefeated state championship as a junior (while passing for 3,330 yards and 47 touchdowns). Bentley named a top three of LSU, Georgia, and OU in the spring of 2025. Arbuckle and company kept at it and gained the commitment after an official visit in the summer of 2025. Bentley went on to finish with a 30-1 record as a starting quarterback, participated in the 2026 Navy All-American Bowl, and was ranked as one of the class’ best QB prospects.

Bentley enters his first season behind returning starter John Mateer. Whitt Newbauer’s experience in Ben Arbuckle’s offense gives him the advantage for the primary backup role, leaving Bentley to compete with Newbauer and Jett Niu while developing for the future. Bentley has the tools to be an excellent quarterback for Ben Arbuckle in the future.
