The Path to Norman

Jake Maikkula was a Colorado high school football product. He was part of the 2022 Stanford recruiting class. After a redshirt season, he had two seasons of significant playing time before entering the portal. In the spring of 2025, OU landed the lineman from there.

Career so Far

Maikkula took a redshirt season in 2022 without playing.

In 2023, he started to make his mark. He played in eight games, five of which were starts, at guard for Stanford. Maikkula earned the team’s second-highest-graded pass-blocking OL score for PFF and was named to the PAC-12 Fall Academic Honor Roll.

2024 was a season of almost full starting. He was Stanford’s highest-graded pass-blocking OL according to PFF, started 11 games at guard and center, and landed on the All-ACC Academic Football Team.

The 2025 season was Maikkula’s first with the Sooners. He earned the starting center job after the season opener and didn’t look back. He allowed only two sacks on the season and was fifth on the offense in snaps played, but did miss the final two games.
