The Path to Norman

Taylor Wein, an Edge player out of Tennessee, was a member of the 2023 recruiting class. Wein had several offers; then, following a visit, he received an OU offer in the fall of 2022.Offers from USC, Ole Miss, Kentucky and Oklahoma State followed quickly. However, the Sooners won his commitment within the month.

Career so Far

Wein played in one game in 2023 while redshirting.

In 2024, Wein played in 12 games, mostly on special teams while also seeing time at defensive end. He was named to the SEC Fall Academic Honor Roll.

Wein had a breakout season in 2025. He entered the year with little experience, but was one of the Sooners’ best defenders for the season. He was first on the team in both sacks and TFL, earned an All-SEC Second Team nod, and had plenty of big plays.

Highlights

This Season

Wein enters 2026 as one of the leaders and best players of the defense. He’ll anchor one of the defensive end spots, while PJ and Okoye will battle for the other starting spot. After a monster 2025, he’ll look to one up himself this fall and be a national name for the Sooners.
