The Path to Norman

Reggie Powers, a safety out of Ohio, was part of a solid 2024 OU safety class. The Sooners joined Powers’ recruitment late. Powers had plenty of offers, but committed to Michigan State in the summer of 2023. The OU offer came in September; Powers decommitted from MSU within the week. Oklahoma brought the safety to campus in October and secured a commitment not long after.

Career so Far

In his first year on campus, Powers saw action in 12 games. He played both on secondary and special teams and was named to the SEC Fall Academic and SEC First-Year Academic honor rolls.

He appeared in every game in 2025 and developed into a regular part of the Cheetah rotation. Powers recorded his first career sack, forced a fumble at Alabama, and again earned SEC Fall Academic Honor Roll recognition.
