The Path to Norman
Tyler Ruxer came to OU from high school football in Indiana, where the tight end used his athleticism and receiving abilities to create problems for opposing defenses. Ruxer was a two-time Indiana Football Coaches Association Class 3A All-State selection and helped Heritage Hills win the 2024 state championship. He had offers from over 30 programs, including West Virginia, Duke, Northwestern, and Purdue, but announced for the Sooners in the summer of 2025.
Highlights
This Season
Transfers Hayden Hansen, Rocky Beers, and Jack Van Dorselaer will lead the completely rebuilt tight end room, led by new coach Jason Witten. Ruxer joins several others behind those three in rounding out the position. His athleticism could help him contribute early on either special teams or in passing situations, but this year will likely be more about development for the newcomer.
