The Path to Norman
Gracen Halton, an ESPN top 300 recruit, didn’t start his recruitment as an OU commit. Instead, the California product was committed to the Oregon Ducks for almost exactly a year. The day after the Sooners beat the Ducks in the 2021 Alamo Bowl, Halton received an Oklahoma offer. In just over a month, Halton had decommitted from Oregon and signed with the Sooners.
Career so Far
Halton started seeing playing time in his first year on campus. He played in ten games, showing Sooner fans his athleticism.
In 2023, Halton played in 11 games at defensive tackle. He was in a reserve role but still notched 3.5 TFL, continuing his knack to get into the backfield.
Halton saw even more action in 2024. He played in all 13 games, making three starts at defensive tackle. Halton finished second on the team in sacks and fourth in TFL and was part of an interior line group that was one of the Sooners’ best units.

This Season
The interior defensive line group should once again be a fun one to watch. Damonic Williams, David Stone, Jayden Jackson, and Halton all return and will likely make up the two-deep. He may not end up starting, but Halton will be a consistent factor on the line in year four.
