The Path to Norman

PJ Adebawore was a top 20 recruit in the 2023 class. An edge prospect from Kansas City, Adebawore had offers from many top programs in the country, including Georgia, LSU, Oregon, and USC. Edge Coach Miguel Chavis had only been in Norman a short time, but managed to win the commitment of the elite prospect in the summer of 2022.

Career so Far

P.J. played in every game for OU as a true freshman. He showed tremendous athleticism and a knack for getting into the backfield. Even in limited snaps, fans could see huge potential.

2024 was a quieter season for the EDGE player; despite playing in 10 games, he battled injuries throughout the season and had limited action.

This Season

There are a lot of expectations for Adebawore this season, and the buzz this offseason has suggested he’s rising to meet them. He’s been frequently mentioned as making plays and impacting the defense. The EDGE room will be extremely competitive this fall. R Mason Thomas will start, but Adebwaore, Taylor Wein, and Marvin Jones will all have a real shot at starting on the other side. All four will likely see big roles on the Sooner defense this year.
