The Path to Norman

Xavier Robinson, a running back in the 2024 class, was a monster for Carl Albert (Oklahoma) in high school. Robinson put up almost 4,500 rushing yards and 77 touchdowns over his junior and senior seasons, earning the MaxPreps Oklahoma High School Football Player of the Year both seasons. With a long offer sheet including teams like Notre Dame, Oklahoma State, and Houston, the back was in high demand. OU won his commitment in the summer of 2023.

Career so Far

2024 was supposed to be an entry year for Robinson, with a backfield of Gavin Sawchuk, Jovantae Barnes, and more leading the way. He didn’t see the field for the first five games of the season, then proceeded to play in seven of the final eight with one start. Robinson showed patience and physicality in his snaps, including a monster performance against Alabama.

Highlights

This Season

Robinson has missed most of camp due to a foot injury. He’ll be competing against newcomer Jaydn Ott, Jovantae Barnes, and Taylor Tatum for snaps. Ott will enter the season as the clear number one, but there will be plenty of snaps to go around for whoever can position themselves as the next guy; based on last season, Robinson has a great shot at being that back.
