The Path to Norman

Trynae Washington, an Oklahoma high school product out of Carl Albert in OKC, received his first college offers from the Sooners back in early 2023. He received offers from Iowa State, Missouri, and Kansas, among others, but seemed to be circling OU. In late fall 2023, Washington and his teammate Marcus James made a double announcement to join OU.

TFB’s JY released a player breakdown shortly after his commitment; check it out here:

Highlights

This Season

Washington played a lot of positions at Carl Albert, but tight end wasn’t one of them. However, that’s where the Sooners have him slotted. It’s a position group with lots of new faces and little to no clear direction. Will Huggins and Jaren Kanak will likely lead the group, but any tight end that can make some noise should have a shot at playing time.
