The Path to Norman

Jaydn Ott played high school football in both California and Nevada. He was a four-star prospect at running back and chose to join Cal to start his time in college. Ott spent three seasons out west before transferring to OU.

Career so Far

Ott’s freshman season was an impressive one; he played in all 12 games and earned 10 starts while racking up 1,200 all-purpose yards. The running back earned three Pac-12 Freshman of the Week nods, an honorable mention All-Pac-!2 selection, and freshman All-America honors from the Athletic.

The sophomore campaign was even more impressive. Ott started in every game and put up 1,300 rushing yards as the featured back; he also saw time in the return game, where he logged a kick return touchdown. He earned first-team All-Pac-12 selection for his efforts.

In 2024, Ott started in 10 games, but was limited with an ankle injury. After the season, he transferred to OU.

Highlights

This Season

Ott was brought to OU to be the featured back. He has been limited in fall camp and is listed third on this week’s depth chart, but should get some run in game on and be ready to lead the backs by game two. OU has suffered through puzzling running back play for a couple seasons and hasn’t seen a 1,000 yard rusher since Eric Gray in 2022 – Sooner fans are hoping Ott can help break that streak.
