The Path to Norman
Gracen Halton, an ESPN top 300 recruit, didn’t start his recruitment as an OU commit. Instead, the California product was committed to the Oregon Ducks for almost exactly a year. The day after the Sooners beat the Ducks in the 2021 Alamo Bowl, Halton received an Oklahoma offer. In just over a month, Halton had decommitted from Oregon and signed with the Sooners.
Career so Far
Halton started seeing playing time in his first year on campus. He played in ten games, showing Sooner fans his athleticism.
In 2023, Halton played in 11 games at defensive tackle. He was in a reserve role but still notched 3.5 TFL, continuing his knack to get into the backfield.

This Season
Halton was sidelined part of the offseason, but was back to practice by mid-spring. He has caught praise since coming back for his work ethic and putting in the time. This fall, Damonic Williams and Da’Jon Terry look ready to start, but Halton is very much in the mix for significant playing time. With 22 games of experience under his belt, Halton has the tools to be a big factor in the first OU SEC defense.
