The Path to Norman
Andrel Anthony was a receiver recruit from the state of Michigan in the 2021 class. He signed with the University of Michigan out of high school and played there for two seasons. After the 2022 season, Anthony entered the transfer portal. Coach Lebby came calling almost immediately, although Anthony also received portal offers from Texas A&M, Notre Dame, Penn State, and many more. The Sooners won out after only a few short days of Anthony being in the portal.
what’s understood doesn’t need to be explained .. thank you God ✞.

Career so Far
Anthony played for Michigan as a true freshman. He appeared in 12 of the team’s 14 games, landing 12 catches and three touchdowns on his way to sharing the team’s offensive-rookie-of-the-year award.
As a sophomore, Anthony played in every game for Michigan, but had a much quieter season. After that year, he entered the transfer portal and joined the Sooners.
In his first season at OU, Anthony started out hot. Through six games, he had a team-leading 429 receiving yards and had hauled in 27 receptions. However, he suffered a season-ending injury against Texas to end his junior year.

Highlights
This Season
The receiver room is working through injuries, with Anthony spending most of the offseason recovering from his ACL surgery. However, he has progressed well. Coach Venables noted just last week that Anthony is no longer required to wear his brace and has no limits being put on him. The staff will certainly continue to be careful, but it looks likely that the senior receiver will be available to play this season. Assuming he is, he will have a very good chance at being a starter by midseason. There are lots of options at wideout, but Anthony showed what he can do last season and the Sooners will be eager to make use of him this fall.
