The Path to Norman

An Edge player out of Minnesota, Wyatt Gilmore was a priority for the Sooners in the 2024 recruiting class. He was offered by OU in February, 2023 and visited a month later. The visit made a big impression, as did a return visit for the ChampU BBQ that summer. Gilmore’s top five included OU, Minnesota, Miami, Oregon, and Kansas State. Within weeks of his return summer visit, Gilmore narrowed it down to just one.

Gilmore was an early enrollee this offseason and was mentioned as someone standing out early, with multiple notes about his strength and physicality. The Edge spot has a multitude of upperclassmen on the depth chart, but early word on Gilmore indicates he may be ready to bypass a redshirt season and contribute in year one.
