The Path to Norman
OU had a hot summer of recruiting in 2022; Jaquaize Pettaway was part of that streak. The elite receiver from Texas held offers from just about everyone, including Ohio State, LSU, Texas A&M, and USC. After an official visit to Norman for the 2022 ChampUBBQ in June, he took visits to Ole Miss and Texas. He released a top two of the Longhorns and the Sooners; Oklahoma won out.

After his commitment, Pettaway was described as “explosive as all get out… Stud” and drew some impressive comparisons.
James Hale had an in-depth interview with Pettaway shortly after his commitment; check it out below.
Career so Far
Pettaway played in nine games a true freshman. In OU’s first game of the year, Pettaway logged nine receptions, a school record by a true freshman playing his first career game. After the season opener, he didn’t see many more touches, but continued to see the field.

Highlights
This Season
The wide receiver room is an exciting one this fall. The slot receiver spot, where Pettaway will play, will be headlined by transfer Deion Burks. Pettaway had a solid start to his college career last season and can build on that by being a regular part of the receiver rotation this year.
