The Path to Norman
Kip Lewis comes to Norman as a Texas high school football product. His first D1 offer came in December, 2020; within just a few months, the linebacker had offers from all over the country, including Texas, Texas A&M, LSU, and Notre Dame. His OU offer came in January; following a relatively short recruiting process and a visit for OU’s spring game, Lewis committed to the Sooners. Following the coaching change at OU, Coach Venables visited Lewis; Lewis stayed locked in with the Sooners as part of three insanely talented linebackers in the 2022 class (Kobie McKinzie and Jaren Kanak being the others).

This Season
The linebacker room is as deep as OU fans have seen in some time. Danny Stutsman is the unquestioned leader of the room, and team, but there are plenty more backers ready to make an impact. Kip Lewis has played alongside Stutsman all offseason; with a season of play under his belt, Lewis looks set to be a starter in 2024.
