The Path to Norman
Kalib Hicks, a Texas high school football running back, started bringing in offers about two years before his eventual signing day. He collected offers from plenty of programs over the next year and a half, including ones from Alabama, Auburn, and Penn State. However, the OU offer came just before the summer of 2022. Within a month and following a visit to Norman, Hicks was committed to the Sooners.

Highlights
This Season
Hicks is still essentially a newcomer to the OU offense, having played only six snaps in 2023. The Sooners’ running back room is crowded; Gavin Sawchuk and Jovantae Barnes lead the way, with Sam Franklin and Taylor Tatum also listed in front of Hicks on this week’s depth chart. Hicks will have to work hard to see increased snaps this season.
