The Path to Norman
CeeDee Lamb started receiving offers almost two years before his signing day. The talented Texas high school product is originally from New Orleans and grew up an LSU fan. After a handful of offers, he committed to the Sooners December, 2015, 14 months before his signing day. After receiving more offers, including one from LSU, Lamb took a step back in April (which was the same day Trey Sermon committed, fun fact of the day). However, the staff never gave up. Schools like LSU, Baylor, Texas A&M, and others were among the programs under consideration for the receiver. Shortly before the summer BBQ, Lamb recommitted to the Sooners. His relationship with Coach Dennis Simmons and the SS17 class were huge parts of the return to Norman. It was smooth sailing from there to signing day despite additional offers, with Lamb going as far as publicly shutting down his recruitment in December. TFB wrote a spotlight on the talented receiver as he signed with the Sooners.
Career So Far
It didn’t take long for Sooner fans to know why the staff was so committed to landing the talented receiver. Lamb was named a starter for the season opener and immediately starting making plays. After a solid first two games, he exploded for 131 yards and two touchdowns against Tulane. The receiver played physical, threw blocks, got open, and made plays. Despite minor injuries mid-season, Lamb was undeniably one of Baker Mayfield’s top targets throughout the season. He was named All-Big 12 Honorable Mention for Offensive Freshman of the Year by the Big 12 and a freshman All-American by ESPN. Even after injuries and sharing the field with a Mackey Award winner and a 1,000-yard receiver in Marquise Brown, his numbers put him him in the OU record books.

2018 Season
Despite a host of talented options, Brown and Lamb will undeniably be the top two receivers heading into the season. Both will be transitioning from Mayfield to Murray, but looking to make that transition easier. TFB is hearing that Lamb may also end up as the punt returner for the Sooners this fall. Both Brown and Lamb are going to push each other to win the Biletnikoff this season, following in the footsteps of Dede Westbrook in 2016. CeeDee Lamb has a year of experience under his belt and a full bill of health; this is an All-American level player ready to show what he can do.
