The Path to Norman
Jacobe Johnson was a highly-ranked in-state prospect, having played high school football in Mustang, who was pursued by many top programs for the all-around athleticism and versatility he brings. Primarily seen as a defensive back, Johnson’s size and speed made him an option all over the field. Johnson received his OU offer almost three years before his signing day. He made his way to Norman often, while also visiting Alabama, Michigan, and Stanford. Shortly after the Party at the Palace recruiting weekend in the fall of 2022, Johnson announced for the Sooners.

Highlights
This Season
Johnson joined OU in the summer, giving him a short window before the season. Coach Valai mentioned recently that Johnson would be starting his career at cornerback. While his athleticism has been noted since arriving, this season will likely hold a redshirt for the young man as he looks forward to the future.
