The Path to Norman

T.D. Roof took a winding road to Norman. Roof originally started his college football journey at Georgia Tech back in 2017. He was there for one season before transferring to Indiana. After a season with the Hoosiers, Roof transferred to Appalchian State, where he sat out for one season before playing the next two. Following the 2021 season, Roof transferred to the Sooners, shortly after his father joined OU as defensive coordinator.

Career so Far

Roof played in all 11 games during his season at Georgia Tech and 10 games at Indiana as a backup linebacker.

Following a redshirt season for transferring, Roof played in 11 games at App State in 2020 on special teams and at linebacker. He then took a step forward in 2021, playing in 13 games with seven starts. Roof finished the 2021 season as the fourth-leading tackler on the team.

This Season

Unfortunately, it was announced (today) that Roof would miss the season with a bicep injury. It’s unclear whether he would then return in 2023 to play, but he will spend the 2022 season in Norman using his experience to help the defense from the sidelines.
