Erik McCarty was offered by the Sooners almost immediately after the coaching regime in the winter of 2021. An athlete prospect out of McAlester, OK, McCarty already held offers from TCU, Nebraska, and Baylor. However, he committed to OU within a month of his offer.

Highlights
This Season
Unfortunately, McCarty suffered an ACL injury during last year’s high school playoffs; he is still in the recovery process, although he is able to practice with no contact. He will likely take a redshirt season in 2023, allowing him to heal and develop in year one.
