The Path to Norman
Marvin Mims, a DFW native, was a star in high school. Hailing from Lone Star HS, Mims was one of the top receivers in the 2020 class, posting eye-popping stats.
- *Texas high school state record holder for receiving yards in a career (5,485)
- *Texas high school state record holder for receiving yards in a season (2,626)
- *6th in single-season receiving touchdowns (32) in Texas high school history
***CeeDee Lamb had 33 - *15th in single-season receptions (114) in Texas high school history
- *During his senior season, he posted 22.5 yards per catch
He had an impressive offer sheet; Wisconsin, Ohio State, Texas A&M, and Notre Dame all offered the young man. OU offered in February, 2019, roughly one year before the 2020 class signing day. In August of 2019, Mims committed to Stanford. However, he made a trip to Norman in October. After that, it was only a matter of time…

Highlights
2020 Season
TFB has heard rave reviews of Mims so far. James Hale reported a recorded low 4.4 40, with Super K backing up the speed claim. K gave another note on the receiver, stating that one source, “compared him to a faster version of Ryan Broyles.” That’s high praise indeed.
Guys like Charleston Rambo and Theo Wease are the known leaders at receiver. Then you have Trejan Bridges (suspended) and Jadon Haselwood (injured) who won’t be available right away, but are certainly in the leader group as well. Transfers Theo Howard and Obi Obialo, freshmen Trevon West, Brian Darby, and Mims, along with Drake Stoops, round out the group of talented, but young, receivers. With the list of experienced receivers who will be available as small as it is, the newcomers are going to get plenty of work this season. James’ latest depth chart projection has Mims as next man up behind Wease. Don’t expect a redshirt season; Marvin Mims is going to be a playmaker at OU.
