The Path to Norman
OU had a hot summer of recruiting in 2022; Jaquaize Pettaway was part of that streak. The elite receiver from Texas held offers from just about everyone, including Ohio State, LSU, Texas A&M, and USC. After an official visit to Norman for the 2022 ChampUBBQ in June, he took visits to Ole Miss and Texas. He released a top two of the Longhorns and the Sooners; Oklahoma won out.

After his commitment, Pettaway was described as “explosive as all get out… Stud” and drew some impressive comparisons.
James Hale had an in-depth interview with Pettaway shortly after his commitment; check it out below.
Highlights
This Season
The OU receiver room undeniably has talent, but the experience is extremely low. New receivers Coach Jones has already made exciting strides in recruiting and everyone is ready to see what his group can do on the field. Pettaway has been one of the most highly-praised new members of the team; he can find ways to get open and uses his speed well. While others are currently projected ahead of him on the depth chart, Pettaway is clearly going to play a lot and looks ready to push for his spot on the two-deep as a true freshman.
