The Path to Norman

Bryson Washington started his recruiting journey a long time before his signing day. His first Power 5 offer came in October, 2017, almost two and a half years before his signing day. He played at C.E. King in Houston, Texas before transferring to Mater Dei in California to finish his high school career. Washington was a top-rated recruit with an impressive offer sheet; Alabama, LSU, Ohio State, Clemson, and Texas were just some of the big names wanting the young man at their program. On Independence Day, Washington let the world know his destination.

Career so Far

Washington enrolled early and arrived in Norman in the spring. His athleticism received a lot of attention, reportedly blowing a 4.3 40! He redshirted during his first season, playing in the four game max to gain experience.

In his second season, Washington played in 11 games, almost exclusively on special teams. Despite exciting Sooner fans with his potential, Washington virtually disappeared on the defense after September.

Highlights

This Season

This year, Washington has a fresh chance to be a big piece of the secondary. He has continued to work at safety over the offseason and is currently projected to backup Key Lawrence. In a secondary littered with talent and athleticism, but low on game experience, Bryson Washington has the opportunity to give Sooner fans what they want by earning serious playing time.
