The Path to Norman
General Booty, a quarterback out of Texas, comes from a family of athletes. His father played receiver at LSU, one uncle was a quarterback at LSU and a Major League Baseball player, and another uncle played quarterback at USC in the Pete Carroll era. After moving around when he was younger, Booty played high school football in Allen, Texas. He then spent a year at Tyler JUCO, where he put up serious numbers. After that, new Coach Lebby came calling with a scholarship and General Booty headed to Norman.

Career so Far
In his first season with the Sooners, Booty played in only one game; this came in a season with a frequent need for quarterback depth and was a source of puzzlement for many. The year was used as his redshirt season.

Highlights
This Season
The 2023 quarterback room has one major change – the addition of Jackson Arnold – but remains mostly the same outside of that. Dillon Gabriel returns and is set to start; while Arnold may not end up listed second on the depth chart, he would almost certainly be first in line if Gabriel is injured. After that, Booty appears to be ahead of Davis Beville in practice. In year two in Norman, Booty will provide depth and hope to be utilized when needed.
