The Path to Norman
Tre Norwood, an Arkansas native, went largely overlooked in high school. It wasn’t until shortly before signing day that he began to be noticed nationally. Norwood was all over the field in high school, playing quarterback and defensive back his senior season. Committed to Louisville for quite some time, coaching turmoil there resulted in Norwood decommitting. The Sooners offered the young man about a month before signing day and shortly after got good news.

Career So Far
After a waiting period, Tre played a lot as a freshman. For the first eight games of the season, his time on the field was limited. Then, Bedlam came around and Sooner nation got their first big dose of Tre Norwood and Tre Brown; they liked what they saw. Norwood led the team in tackles and PBU with seven and two, respectively. He earned his first start against TCU the next week and never looked back. Throughout the rest of the season, Tre Norwood got a reputation as an aggressive corner who constantly got his hands up, and managed to pull off the rare feat of playing in every single game of a true freshman season.
Norwood continued in 2018, ending up fifth on the team in tackles and starting in every game. Although the defense had well-documented challenges defending the pass, Norwood was often a bright spot for the secondary.
Unfortunately, Norwood was injured shortly before the 2019 season and missed the entire year.

2020 Season
After missing an entire year due to injury, along with DC Alex Grinch’s freshman outing, Norwood is ready to be back on the field. He is up 15 pounds from this time before the 2018 season, putting some good size on his frame. Last year, the guys who received the most playing time at corner were Parnell Motley, Jaden Davis, and Brown. With Motley gone, Davis, Brown, and Norwood will be battling for the starting jobs. Although Norwood started every game his sophomore season, all three will have an honest claim for the spots and will almost certainly receive a lot of playing time regardless of starting. Look for Norwood to come back to an excellent year in 2020.
