The Path to Norman
J.J. Hester played high school football at Booker T in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Despite being an in-state product and having interest in OU, Hester initially landed at Missouri. He was the highest-ranked recruit in the Tigers’ 2020 recruiting class. After two seasons at Mizzou, Hester entered the transfer portal. The Sooners’ new coaching staff came calling and landed the receiver.

Highlights
This Season
The 2022 OU receiver depth chart contains a mixture of returning players and newcomers. Marvin Mims, Theo Wease, and Jalil Farooq will likely be the starting three receivers. After them and Drake Stoops is a talented combination of transfers and freshmen. Hester’s name has been mentioned throughout the offseason and he certainly has the tools to be a big asset at the spot. Look for Hester to be an exciting addition to the receiver two-deep with plenty of time left in Norman to be an even bigger factor down the road.
