The Path to Norman
Kip Lewis comes to Norman as a Texas high school football product. His first D1 offer came in December, 2020; within just a few months, the linebacker had offers from all over the country, including Texas, Texas A&M, LSU, and Notre Dame. His OU offer came in January; following a relatively short recruiting process and a visit for OU’s spring game, Lewis committed to the Sooners. Following the coaching change at OU, Coach Venables visited Lewis; Lewis stayed locked in with the Sooners as part of three insanely talented linebackers in the 2022 class (Kobie McKinzie and Jaren Kanak being the others).

Highlights
This Season
David Ugwoegbu, Danny Stutsman, and DaShaun White will be the leaders at linebacker in 2022. Those three and Shane Whitter bring experience, with the talented freshmen right behind them. Lewis, likely to slot in at the WILL, has the chance to redshirt in 2022 – on paper. Like McKinzie, Lewis may be too good to keep on the bench for a year. Regardless of how much he plays in 2022, Lewis has the tools to be an impact linebacker for OU starting in 2023.
