The Path to Norman

Jayden Gibson, a Florida high school football product, was a long-time Florida commit. When the new staff arrived in Norman, they made Gibson a priority. He went to Norman for an official visit in early December and committed to the Sooners in short order. Gibson rejoined QB Nick Evers, another former Florida commit, and along with Nic Anderson gave the Sooners an impressive freshman receiver class.

Gibson’s name came up a lot over the offseason; sources mentioned his size and speed leading to big plays. With a large share of newcomers in the receiver room, there will be ample opportunities for the freshmen to see playing time. Gibson was listed behind Theo Wease on Monday’s depth chart and he is going to be a regular presence on the field. OU’s receiver room added a lot of height over the offseason, Gibson being one; look for him to use that and his speed to be a factor in the offense as a true freshman.
