– Kareem Orr: OU has been on a DB offer tear this week. Last night another DB offer was made. This one to Lousiville commit, Kareem Orr out of Chattanooga, Tennessee. This offer surprises me a bit only because Orr doesn’t have the 6’0+ size that OU seemed to be looking for all along. In fact it was Stanley Norman’s height that caused OU to back off him as a DB prospect and he is the same size as Orr.
Nevertheless Orr does show a nice ability to close on the ball which is critical in the way Oklahoma plays their cornerbacks and he plays much bigger than his listed size.
In speaking to Orr a little last night he did confirm that he will be taking a visit to Oklahoma sometime in the next few weeks and it’s clear that he’s very excited about the offer. He let us know that the Arizona State, Washington State, Indiana and Georgia are recruiting him heavily right now. He’s still waiting on the Georgia offer however but it sounds like there is a lot of interest from Coach Pruitt and his staff.
– Defensive Back Situation: A lot of folks have been asking about all the DB offers and more specifically about the JUCO offers. I (K) think the offer to the JUCO safety is simply due to the fact that I think it’s becoming more apparent each week that perhaps Ahmad Thomas is more comfortable playing in the box. If they end up spinning him down (which is speculation at this point) that leaves a safety position open and your passing down nickel position as well your dime. I think the cornerback offers are going out just to make sure they end up with at least two true cornerbacks in this class.
– Noah Turner: 2016 TE, Noah Turner out of Illinois let us know this past weekend that Oklahoma has been showing interest. Apparently coach Bedenbaugh reached out to his high school coaches this past week.
– UPDATE (1:26 pm): Just got word that OU is starting to show interest in 2015 CB, Nate Dalton out of Cy Falls. Apparently, someone from the OU staff called the school today. Not sure if an offer will happen just yet but there is quite a bit of buzz around this kid down here in the Houston area. He played QB up until this year. Very raw but is a legit 6’3 CB that was playing all years on natural talent and has as much upside as any of the DBs in the state. It’ll probably come down to whether OU wants to develop him. But the kid has the upside of any of the big corners in the state including Jaylon Lane, Holton Hill, etc. I don’t really compare him to PJ because there aren’t particularly similar. Dalton is much more like Jaylon Lane.

Coach Bedenbaugh is a beast.
indeed. One of the hardest working coaches…perhaps in the country.
TFB staff,
Any players to watch in regards to possible OU recruits in the Allen/Desoto game Saturday besides Kyler Murray?
Greg Little and Jaylon Jones from Allen (2016). Desoto has a few 2016 kids I’m sure…Jordan Artis (2016) and James Proche (2015) is at Desoto now but OU isn’t going to offer him.
Greg and Jaylon are two of my favorite kids, outstanding young men on and off the field. Everyone knows about Big Little but if folks haven’t seen Jaylon Jones they are missing out.
What position is Jaylon Jones? I have not been able to make any games this year.
He is a safety. One of the best football players I’ve ever coached.
I realize you coach him up but in scout it has him at CB. Based on his size, I’m curious if he is better S or will he turn out to be a CB.
JJ is a FS. I personally think he needs to play Safety. Kid is a coach on the field, he is always in the right spot, gets everything communicated in the secondary and I’ve never seen the kid bust a coverage. He may be a little undersized at 5″11/170 but he is explosive and can absolutely bring the hammer down.

Players size doesn’t bother me. By the time he plays college if he redshirts, he will be 190/195 so that’s not an issue. Thx for update
Any more stud LB’s coming through Allen?
Tough to match last year with 2 D1 OLBs but they have some kids that will play at the next level. Sione Tupou is a JR ILB that will go on to play at the next level but probably not a big school although when he hits you, you find out real quick whether or not you really like playing football and his little brother James is also an ILB playing as a sophomore and that kid can freakin play! Something about that Tongan blood!!
No doubt. I wondered what the depth was after Sims & Tay. On another note, my son who is a youth QB watched the Allen state championship at least 6 times. I know Kyler’s Uncle well and he tried to set up a time for my son to meet him but he was playing baseball all summer. He loves how cool & confident Kyler is during games.
Going to be some hooting and hollering at Cowboy stadium Saturday.
Allen vs Desoto could have a basketball score by the time they are done.
I’m taking my son to the state championship games and he hopes Allen will be playing. Hope to see some folks there from TFB.
The game between Allen-Desoto is a rematch of the championship game from 2 years ago when then soph QB Murray stole the show in spectacular fashion.
Are y’all going for all three days or just the Saturday tripleheader?
Depending on who is playing I will assume my customary lazy boy position in front of the plasma.
Most likely the Saturday tripleheader. He’s 12 so don’t want to pull him out of school – even though I think it’s worth it.:) Allen-Desoto will be a heck of a game.
Too bad they are playing the same time as OU or I would go.
My big brother and I did a triple header at the old Texas stadium.
By the time we staggered out of there all we wanted was a salad, after eating the concession junk all day.
I’m not an unbiased observer having coached at Allen for a number of years and having kids I coached and taught on the field for the game but I think Allen makes it 3 in a row against Desoto. 38-0 is a pretty good record as a starting QB and while Kyler is a special kid I will say that the Allen coaching staff is as good as any staff in the country. From game planning to in game adjustments they are on a different level from most high school staffs.
2 years ago wasn’t the championship but the semifinal game. We played a Houston team in the final.. Lamar maybe?
You are correct, how could I forget. It was Houston Lamar in the championship game.
Intrigued by the JUCOs. Maybe the coaches are looking at the success folks like TCU had with the likes of Jason Verrett. Anywhere close to that and I’d be content.
haha TCU’s development has a lot to do with Verrett. Verrett almost went home. Coach P really helped Verrett become who he is. Look at the CBs they have playing now. They weren’t recruited by any major programs and they’re still playing well.
You are right. Can we haz TCU’s db coach then ?
Is OU still going after Stanley Norman as a WR?
No sir
What happened there?
Filled up at slot wr and felt it wasn’t tall enough to be a CB in the mold of what they were looking for
Is Thaddeus LaGrone still on the team ?

No
Are there ANY rumors or talks within the program of Josh Heupel even being on the hot seat? I mean is there even concern from Bob Stoops or maybe he’s been looking around? We gotta make three coaching changes this offseason. Linebackers, Cornerbacks and OC
I think we let Boulware go, just to make room for a OC/tightend coach. Interesting Bedenbaugh makes the TE offer?
Lots of rumors. But like all rumors, difficult to know if there is any truth to them.
I think Bob will replace Kish with a coach that is a better game planner, to help Mike with the spread offense.
BJW just seems to have lost his magic recruiting touch.
I would also like to see OU go with some serious experience at OC.
BJ found Flowers out of nowhere. He’s relates to kids in his own way. He’s approachable and a funny guy.
While on the topic of cornerbacks, any updates on Jaylon Lane? Are the coaches still recruiting him?
Yeah they still want him but unless he makes it up to Norman on a visit it’s all just talk.
With all of the DB offers going out this week, are there any concern about P.J. Mbanasor’s commitment to OU?
Seems odd to me ,also. I’m beginning to wonder if OU knows what size they want in a cornerback.
Tells me more about the possible attrition rate that may occur after the season.
yep
Marcus & Tito will be RS frosh & have upside. Stanvon, Dakota, & Cortez are wild cards. Outside of that, only Sanchez & Thomas are the only other scholly CBs. This will really turn interesting after the first of the year with players/coaches.
Also, do you think there are any WRs on the roster who may flip to CB? ie Woods
Feel the WR position will have a lot of attrition too.
Which is odd to me. If you have more than one player at a given position who needs to go, it is no longer a player issue but a coach issue. Either the coach recruited the ‘wrong’ players or failed to coach them.
And that logic leads to some sensitive places, now don’t it?
Anything specific on Mbanasor nor being a solid commit at this point?
WC Sooner…………….that’s my thought as well……….I think these offers show OU coaches have returned to the ‘drawing board’ . I doubt many elite options are available to this staff with the schemes M Stoops has shown.
Recruits may look at scheme and what is being done, but as football players they know that things are subject to change. They won’t hinge one of the biggest decisions of their lives based on a coach trying to protect his db’s because they are not of the necessary skill level thus far. People don’t realize the drop off that occurred in the secondary from last year to this year. They also forget to consider that it is arguably the most important position to have depth and playmakers at in the Big XII. The coaches have not returned to the drawing board, they are simply trying to build depth in a position filled of inexperienced/young, but potentially solid players. It is an area of need. I am not sure how you classify elite players, but there are still a lot of great high school football players considering OU. You must also recognize the fact that an unheralded name does not mean that player will not become an elite member of our squad.
Don’t let that guy get to you, he is into assisted suicide.
My man EasTex! I feel as if we are usually on the same page. Finally needed that cathartic release after I let so many of his erroneous statements slip by without consequence.
Thanks, man.
I know it’s not always easy to let some of those comments go by.
is that what that red juice is? man, some of these guys think its koolaid. apparently, its killaid? is that what you’re saying?
Not exactly. He is always trying to bring out the gloom regardless of what is going on.
indeed. he dressed as a piece of poo for halloween
Mbanasor is good for now.
for now?
Please don’t get mad, I’m not advertising for another site, I just had to share this headline from ouinsider. It made me LOL!
….what headline
Well when you steal credit cards for a living……….
……..I’m aware of ‘burger king’………..he also stole cc’s??
Feel free to advertise any site here. We don’t charge so y’all having a subscription to their site doesn’t change your ability to read ours 🙂
I’m just amazed it was spelled correctly. Not surprised in the slightest they weren’t bright enough to catch the pun.
They have changed it now, imagine that.
I posted the heading and a this picture on their site. The headline was immediately changed.
Agreed…I’m shocked “up” wasn’t misspelled.
Oh Long Johnson
LOL, that is awesome!
…..all sounds like a lot of confusion with a touch of panic…….”hey, kid, you play football?…..you a db?……well, here’s your offer!”
We need a new RB metric. Yards per carry and yards per game are good, but for Perine we need:
— Injuries Inflicted per Carry
I believe he’s leading the nation.
I think he made 3 Tech DBs go down lol
Yeah, that was one play … what about the rest of the game!
ANOTHER good reason to run early and pass later – the 2nd or 3rd team DBs will be in the game then.
Favorite part is the disbelief that they will see him for another 2/3 years…
Hypothetically, should OU win out, are M. Stoops and Heupel off the hot-seat? I feel like the more we scrape by, the better chances we won’t see much turnover this offseason.
Claiming them to be on the hot seat with anyone other than some fans is hypothetical.
I’m taking a backseat. Soon enough we will know what the head man wants to do moving forward. Once done, I’m good.
I am a patient person, I can wait too.
Indeed.
It’s all rumor right now, but you’ve got to believe that there is some pressure within 2 home losses. Probably a bit too early to talk about but I think we’re in for an interesting offseason.
I would believe pressure to improve before I would believe pressure to be gone.
I hate the off season.
I am always reminded of the ancient Chinese curse “May you live in interesting times.”
Looking forward to an entertaining KSt-WVU game tonight.
Just curious what everyone thinks about this. Could it be that our recruiting problems this year at certain positions is nothing more than the result of us having so many young players (ie FR/SO) starting at so many positions (QB, RB, DL, LB, DB)? As “insiders” we see the need for help at some of those positions but as recruits are looking at us, maybe they don’t see themselves getting any action for a couple of years. Just a thought. Or is everyone hard on the bandwagon of some coaches need to go or there’s something else wrong with our program that needs to be fixed (like some of the examples The Brainiacs wrote about earlier this year)?
Depending on which package is on the field, there is usually only one senior and one soph in the back five/six. I see your point clearly.
When a person reads the instructions that is called an education. When a person doesn’t the result is experience. Lots of young players that need both an education and experience is what I’m seeing.
I’m certain recruits are looking at the youth in front of them.
I’ve been wondering about the impact on recruiting. If we were 10-0 right now, recruits might be worried about beating out all of these freshmen that are playing. But given the struggles of the freshmen, I’m not sure they would worry recruits all that much.
Another good point.
Most agree that a talented player isn’t concerned with the competition for a job. With the pass happy teams in this conference OU can’t risk not having a plethora of talented DBs.
Wish I was still young and invincible!
Know what you mean.
The older I get the better I was. :}
Looks like OU already offered Nate Dalton
Not according to Nate’s uncle which is who he lives with.

So you’re a coder, eh?
I’m with you, I can spot those guys a mile away.
Lol
Not so much anymore, web stuff now but i found a funny plug in that converts words into binary
HA!
And just what exactly did the “code” say?
/enquiring minds an’ such
He told me Boomer Sooner was the code EasTex. I’m no coder tho, I had to text him and ask
Dang, that’s a lot of code for two words.
That looks exactly like a text message I sent years ago before Microsoft came out with Windows.
You a coder, too?
Wait a minute, you just funnin’ ain’tcha?
Yep, I could maybe send some smoke signals, me not know code.
I was a little slow on the uptake.
Did a little binary stuff back in the early IC chip days but I didn’t think that was the “code” you were referring to. Haha.
Took one class in programming. While ‘puters don’t worry me any, programming was just not for me. I’ve know some coders over the years, our minds don’t work the same.
I tried programming (Dos, pre windows) drove me crazy. Settled on electronic technology and now into fiber optics. Much less “code” these days.
A 6-3 DB? That’s good news. But I wonder if he’s projected at Strong Safety or maybe LB?
Jaylon Lane played his last high school game last Friday night.
The Nacogdoches secondary didn’t have a good night, the Marshall QB was 10-12(one drop/one PBU) with 2TDs.
Lane is #28 in this video. They seemed to use him on the slot receivers not on the outside.

What are the odds that our (OU) first offensive play against Kansas will be a pass?
About the same odds that whatever play they run will be quickly followed by snark.
Haha. Priceless. I can’t wait…
Me either, even though I have to.
At least I have this game tonight to distract me a little, then my homies playoff game is tomorrow night.
Well played!
Anybody else hearing the “TK advised to hang up the cleats because of the injury” story that’s quietly been floating around the last few days? (Don’t shoot me. I’m just asking.)
Bob would have told us at the weekly presser right?
Ha ha . Of course he would. You meant that as a joke, right?
I’ve seen that mentioned, but only on message boards. I have trouble believing it to be true.
I suffered some neck injuries when I played, and have had over 7 surgeries to repair and correct the issues. I’ll have to have more in time. Anyway, over that time I’ve learned a tremendous amount about neck/spinal cord injuries…specifically as they relate to football.
The only thing that would cause a doctor to make that recommendation would be if Knight had stenosis (a narrowing of the spinal column) that was previously undetected. Players can still play with setnosis, but it increases the risk of that “one hit” causing major problems.
From the information I’ve been able to gather (about Knight’s injury), he suffered a stinger (not quite the same as the typical stinger, but in layman’s terms, that’s the best word). In his case, there is most likely swelling in the muscles/tissue surrounding his spine. The worst pain I’ve ever had was from swelling in the nerve root (where the nerves leave the spine through the ‘winged’ vertebrae. Until that swelling goes down, the nerves are squeezed against the bone and cause major pain and muscle spasms in that area.
The spine is a sensitive area, and things have to be perfect for it to function without pain. I suspect that’s what’s going on with TK. He’s dealing with pain and spasms that will linger until the swelling goes away.
Given what we know for sure (the MRI and X-Rays were negative), there’s absolutely no reason to believe TK can’t return to normal activity once the pain decreases to a level he’s comfortable with.
So, I don’t put any faith in that rumor.
Thanks, SK.
Is it likely similar to Colt McCoy’s injury in the NC game against Bama?
“Kansas players fighting their butts off in practice” Should we be worried?
Very scared.
Pass happy WVU runs on 1st down…run happy KSt passes on 1st down.
All their coaches should be fired immediately.
/s
Fox sports one?
Yessir.
Another wild night in Morgantown. I like this matchup.
The Fumbles!
And the stumbles and bumbles.
Must really be cold there.
30, 54% humidity.
The way they are acting and the announcers talking about it, I figured it was much colder.
BTW, the kicker for WVU is from Garland, Tx and his grand dad is a life long Sooner.
I know, not that bad.
That is fascinating.
K-State looks the part for a bigg-er bowl game tonight. They’re hitting hard, dominating, and doing it with a steady head.
Much respect for Snyder and the way he always has his team ready to compete.
Are you in Garland? That’s my hometown
No, N. Dallas/Addison/Plano area.
My oldest brother lives just in Garland, just across Jupiter from the Richardson side.
oh cool. my brother and parents live in little elm. ole damn small world
That area is filling up fast.
If not CB, could Nate play Safety?
He’s smooth. He glides. He can change direction. Perhaps has to work on technique, not getting too high, but the potential bounces off the screen. A project, but not one that isn’t worth the risk. Some high schoolers look good, but they might have almost reached their limit. Nate doesn’t look like that at all. Make him eat 3 PB&Js per day and lift some heavy weights, he’ll be fine.

I thought I would share link for max wariboko. Based on the highlights I would say he improved in his junior year. Wonder if he’s gotten bigger and stronger and quicker.
I wonder if he is still a “Psyche” maven.
Go Cyclones.
Go Heritage Hall
Had to come through the wire.
I don’t know that I’ve ever watched video on him before, doesn’t look like a bad athlete. I assume you’ve seen some where he didn’t look this good.
He looked pretty good. But no he didn’t have much sophomore film. It will be interesting to see how he does this summer in camps.
Finally wrangled up a video that features Haller. I think these plays are from late in the game when they were piling up the points and pulling away, final score 67-42. Wish it showed his 69yd TD run, I wanted to see it.

Kid has some moves. You said he was a running back I believe, do they run him a lot out of the direct snap? Seemed to do that a lot in the vid.
Yeah, wildcat/RB.
So, Chasen Virgil is available now.. QB from West Mesquite.. Miss.St. dropped him just a couple weeks before he was to graduate & enroll early.. Any chance we make a late run, with Knight’s health still kind of an unknown..?
I never heard of the young man. At 6’2″ 169 he is going to need some serious physical development before he’s ready for D-1 football.
His hudl film is very good.. Zone read QB.. He’s a 3 or 4 star kid, depending on the service..
Word is they asked him to greyshirt to make room for somebody else. OU never was involved with him, so I doubt they would go after him now. Seems as though it was Kyler Murray, Jarrett Stidham, Torrance Gibson or nobody. Looks like nobody to me.
RE: Ahmad Thomas spinning down – GREAT! Another 200lb linebacker.
