Happy Halloween, y’all!
– Will Lockett: This week several new 2015 cornerback offers have gone out. One of those was to a UCLA commit, Will Lockett, from Manvel, TX. We caught up with Lockett yesterday to see what kind of interest in has in the Sooners and it appears there is definitely interest there. He told us he would “for sure” take a visit to Norman. He did say he visited OU for an unofficial visit last February, but was not extended an offer. Now that he has an offer, he said he’s trying to set up an official for next week’s Baylor game.
I (K) was a little surprised by this offer considering there are still players out there like Derrick Baity, Antoine Stephens, and Colin Samuel, but I also have not seen Lockett play this year. But, in general, guys like Baity, Stephens, and Samuel fit more of the physical archetype OU appeared to be looking for (6’2″ 180+). Though Lockett is certainly not a small corner at about 5’11”-6’0″ and 180 lbs.
It’s hard to tell but the fact that Lockett has already been to Norman (a visit he said he enjoyed) and has already begun working on setting up another visit would seem to indicate that OU is a real contender here.
– Justin Martin and Juwuan Briscoe: The other two CB offers that went out were to JUCO Justin Martin and Clemson commit Juwuan Briscoe. We haven’t had a chance to catch up with Briscoe yet, but we did catch up with Martin a little and he didn’t say a ton. When asked if he planned on taking a visit to OU (he attends NEO) he said, “eventually.” Martin is originally from the South and has held several SEC offers for quite some time, so it seems likely he’d up in SEC country.
– Gabriel Campbell: Just wanted to let y’all know that while you probably haven’t heard much about Gabriel lately, OU is still in the mix for the long and talented DE. We caught up Campbell this week, and he said he absolutely still plans on making it to OU on an official visit. You’ll recall that he was going to visit for the Tennessee game, but he hadn’t quite yet taken his standardized test. He said he plans on making it to “either the Baylor or Oklahoma State game.”
– Anthony McKee: We also caught up with 2015 LB recruit, Anthony McKee. You’ll recall that McKee did make it in for the Tennessee game and loved it. In fact, he told us that he considered committing but wanted to wait to speak to his family. Earlier this week he told us that his top two schools right now are OU and Michigan State. He said he will trip to Lansing next weekend and then make his decision shortly thereafter. He didn’t give an exact date on that decision, but it sounded like it could come anytime after his trip next weekend.
– Dwaine Thomas: We know a lot of y’all are as big of fans of Dwaine Thomas as we are, so we’ve got some good news for you. It sounds like Oklahoma is beginning to show interest, and we’ve been told that OU will be down to visit Thomas later this fall. If they like what they see, then you can probably expect an offer to be extended. OU would have a very good shot at landing someone we feel is really an excellent linebacker prospect and someone that could be exactly the kind of player OU is looking for and very much needs.
– FSU vs. Louisville/TCU vs. WVU: Thought Petrino and co. were going to pull it out. Tough loss for them. They started to play more conservatively in the second half and they let Winston get comfortable. Some big time games this weekend. The OU game is always the highlight of course, but a game that may prove to be very critical in the Big 12 race is that TCU vs. WVU game. If WVU can win, then it helps whatever chance OU may still have for a Big 12 title*. The Sooners would still need WVU to take another loss and KSU to drop two, but getting TCU’s second loss out of the way would be a necessary step to getting back into the conference championship discussion. But as they say, the Sooners have to take care of their own business for any of those things to matter.
* Jordan’s take – K is my guy, but even if you believe OU still has a shot at some share of a Big 12 title, there is almost zero scenario in which they could win it outright. It would almost certainly involve a multi-team tiebreaker scenario and one that could involve one or more teams that OU lost to head-to-head, thus, in my opinion, disqualifying them for even having the right to “share” the claim of Big 12 Champion. That’s also based on the presumption that OU wins out from here forward, which I am in no way prepared to say. So, sorry, but I just couldn’t help myself from raining a bit on this parade.
– UPDATE (Fri., 2:56 pm): 2015 QB & OU offer Torrance Gibson is expected to announce his commitment on Monday. Ohio State has been the favorite for some time and very little has changed in that respect, so expect Urban Meyer to land another one. I (Jordan) would expect OU has known for a while they weren’t really in it and that doesn’t appear to have changed much with respect to their plans for a QB in this 2015 class. So I see no reason to adjust the expectation that OU does not take a QB in this year’s class, which would be the first time that was the case since 2005.
– UPDATE (Fri., 3:11 pm): New 2016 offer went out.

Is there anything new with ole dude from Canada? His name escapes me at the moment.
Neville Gallimore. We’re in his Top 3 with Oregon and FSU.
Yeah that’s who. He is my favorite target for the defense by far. I just feel like he will be THE difference maker on the line.
Read earlier this week that Gabe Campbell is up to 6’7″ 265!!!
I have a feeling that the Gundy’s might pull a fast one on KSU this weekend!
Well, it is Halloween and the Pokes are dressed for the occasion.
You must have watched the coaches show to see what they will be wearing right?
Out of Baity, Stephens and Samuel, have we actually offered any of them? Samuel maybe? Pretty sure the first two dont currently have an offer, right?
Some people think that all of the CB offers is because of us losing a commit, but I think it could be something else…
1) CBs tend to be hit or miss, and with our secondary looking thinner and thinner with skill, I think they want to make sure they get a few hits.
2) The coaches are coming off a bye week, so they have more time for evaluation.
I do have a question, any news on the LB front, I am getting more and more nervous everyday. Most of the LBs I follow seem to be committed and in a pretty solid way, and that is certainly a position we need.
I think Mike wants a CB with experience that can come in and play now.
For a share of a Big 12 title tiebreaker to go OU’s way, it would have to be a 3 way tie with either WVU or Baylor and KSU.
OU would have beaten one side of the tiebreaker.
Lost to other side.
But OU would be 10-2
WVU 9-3, and KSU 9-3.
And likely to win the college playoff rankings tiebreaker.
At the risk of starting an arguement…still no offer for McKinley Whitfield?
I just had an existential aneurysm…
No argument here, just a vigorous head-scratching.
I think you meant ball scratching ,remember you have herpes
Word is that Whitfield is not happy with the Oklahoma coaches right now. He has no offer and he feels that he has been played.
This is what I’ve assumed unfortunately the coaches told him the see him at linebacker and most of their top targets are still uncommitted. I guess even if we saw him at safety then he would probably still be waiting since those top targets also haven’t committed.
Which still really doesn’t make sense to me…OU has ZERO LB commits…offer the kid already…
then he’s being played by all the major area powers………via rivals, no offers yet
Recruiting ain’t over until the full bodied lady with the viking helmet sings on 4 Feb.
About 90 days away. It’s looking like no commits till after January for OU. That’s a gentleman’s way (full-bodied) I tend to say curvy. OU really, really needs to win this week-end.
I tend to agree that commits won’t be in abundance until after the bowl season.
I was corrected once by a rather large woman about the term “full bodied” and have used it since.
The Sooners have to take care of business this week. Mangino is skillful and Rhoades has done more with less than just about any coach I’ve seen, so I don’t expect a cake walk. I’m extremely happy most of our injured players are now back.
The lady who corrected you must have been your wife.
Am I the only one who hopes that KSU, TCU, Baylor, and OU all finish strong? I don’t want any of these 4 to lose to lesser opponents. We need to beat Baylor, KSU needs to beat TCU, and Baylor needs to beat KSU. All of us end up with two losses and share the title right?
Someone else would have to beat KSU too. They are undefeated now in conference play. Possibly WVA can beat them.
KSU beating TCU? (That is the same chances as us getting into playoffs, not happening man). Best hope is to wish WVU beats TCU (gives tcu couple of losses), KSU loses against BU and TCU and beats WVU.
That’s the ideal scenario, along with a strong finish by OU including a curb stomping of BU.
I have a good feeling about the Baylor game (just because of the injuries on their OLine and their defense). But, we should have curb stomped KSU too but instead we stomped our own legs, That will be the deciding factor (if we can keep mistakes to a minimum).
Mistakes have cost us two games.
OU has yet to play a complete game where all three phases played their best. They are due.
Wow how interesting and OBVIOUS tell us something we dont know
EasTex is one of the nicest posters so all of your comments are not necessary or welcome. TFB, ban this person. Thank you.
Eastex is faggit ass ex wanna be cop straightup
Outsider; u r pure class!!!!
Over the top. Not necessary. TFB, we have no idea what the preference of our posters, nationality, gender or race. There is no place for this.
Damn, did EasTex spit in your orange juice?
I don’t understand what has to happen in someone’s life that they have to stoop to those kind of levels. It’s one thing to disagree and heckle but that is uncalled for.
Are you in here making new friends again?
I did what to whom, now? :0
O000h, now I see what you mean.
Would be humorous to know what was said.
Apparently he didn’t care for being poked with a pointy stick on another thread.
i think in one of em he said you have herpes or some such. may wanna hit up the pharmacy. i can’t remember the others. he’s apparently not a big fan
Hee-Hee!
I’ll tell him like I do everyone that says “you got it” to me. I say ‘no I don’t, saw a doctor and got rid of “it”.’
Thanks Super K for all you do.
I truly can’t stand Fla. State, and everything they stand for at this point, but watching the game even I could sense the announcers’ bias. Fla State made a couple of great plays and the announcers said “the breaks seem to be going Fla. State’s way now.” Or Winston made a pinpoint pass, threading it past two defenders, hitting his receiver in the hands. The guy dropped it and the announcers were all about what a poor decision it was to throw that pass. They had to come around at the end, but the need to diminish any competitive non-sec team seems to still be there.
What about Griffin down in florida, with Terrance Gibson still no offer?
Griffin committed to Wisconsin. I’m bummed.
whomever this outsider clown is needs to be banned please!!
agreed
Has winter come yet? … because the trolls have arrived
I believe I’ve dealt w/ this ‘outsider’ person, but if you see that’s not the case please just let me know.
Thank you!
Thank you sir
Release the BAN HAMMER!!!!
As long as we win, recruiting won’t be a problem. Kids nationwide still are “considering” OU. OU just might need some better “closers”.
Aside from Gundy, it seems as though the 3 new coaches are far more aggressive than the old. Maybe OU needs to replace the “old” with some “new”.
This guy or gal called the outsider needs to go to some other site. Just going to spew their hatred till the TFB crew steps forward.
I know OU likes to let the process play out for these guys, but at some point you need to just close on the guys you want. It’s almost foolish to think some of these guys are going to wait you, especially all the LB’s going off the board recently.
P.S. Justin Martin is pretty cool, plays great, should be a Sooner.
Finally saw the Boz 30 for 30. Unlike the Marcus Dupree film, which I still think is maybe the best 30 for 30 they’ve done–compelling even for non-OU fans, and definitely “must see” for any fan, I thought this one was just ok. I was a huge Boz fan back in the day, crazy about his playing on the field, and entertained by his antics off it, still have my copy of the book, and I absolutely loved seeing all the footage of him on the field.
All shows of this type have a certain amount of self-serving rewriting of history, but this one had maybe a little bit too much, on all sides.
Fascinating to see the “hit” and realize that due to all the hype surrounding it at the time, my memory was of a much bigger truck by Bo. Seeing it now, it’s hard to imagine how completely and utterly devastating that moment was to Boz’s entire image, and any parts of his career related to it.
I’m glad he’s re-accepted by most as part of the OU family and the great OU player that he was. The concept of building the show around showing the memorabilia to his son was a good one, and all in all it was a nice retelling of his story, but I didn’t feel there was anything compelling or particularly enlightening about the presentation. ymmv…:-)
The sharing his memories with his son was a very nice touch.
The emotion in his voice when he talked about the day he was getting ready for a game with Seattle and the Sooners were playing for the Natty that night really touched my heart.
I was a fan of the Boz back then. I’m an even bigger fan of Brian today.
agree about the “natty” moment. I know it wasn’t his choice to leave when he did, at least not in the traditional sense, so it doesn’t strictly apply, but I see his story as just one more example of a guy who had the talent to move on to the NFL, but should have stayed for other reasons.
I understand, but it just showed that his heart of hearts(Brian) was still with his guys.
He put himself in that position, no doubt about it.
“it just showed that his heart of hearts(Brian) was still with his guys.” Absolutely. I wasn’t trying to focus on whether he put himself in that position at all, just the fact that one more season of hanging with his guys, one more year of maturity, one more year of figuring out how to think about stuff, would likely have done him a world of good in so many ways. “if only…”
Yeah, if only.
Reminds me of an old expression…we live two lives, the one we learn with and the one we live with.
I thought it was ok too but I was expecting a better episode. I get that they told the sorry that he ended up doing the things he did because of his dad…for me that was hard to hear. I remember my dad would tell me I could always do better but when I look back I appreciate that my dad was always there to watch me in whatever sport I was playing. And now that I have a 2 year old that’s what I look forward to doing is just being there.
We all have different Dad’s and I could relate to what Brian was talking about. My Dad critiqued and pushed us boy’s to such an extent it became clear it was important for him to relive his lost glory as an athlete.
My high school team was playing the 3-time Catholic league state champion St. Thomas in Houston. I had busted my face mask where it met the side clamp and the jagged edge nearly poked my eye out, so I came out of the game for repair. I was the starting nose tackle and my sub was getting plowed. I began trying on all the helmets on the bench but none would fit.
My Dad had been yelling loudly for me to get back in the game, get a helmet…any helmet…then he yelled loudly “damnit, you don’t need a helmet, get in there.” I was mortified and when I got home and found out everyone listening on the radio had heard it I was furious. I quit trying to please him after that.
OTH my good friends had Dad’s that loved and supported them regardless as long as they were doing their best. I always got along well with my friends parents because they were so grounded.
My Dad would go to my football games regardless of where we played or the weather. When I was performing in any other venue he not only wouldn’t be there, he didn’t want to know how I did.
I pushed my kids on academics only and supported them on anything they wanted to do.
Think we win if Boz was there?
Who can say?
I would tend to say no since it was a home game for a very good Miami team.
Just reading for the first time today….finally!
What’d I miss with this joker who goes by the “outsider”?
I can only surmise that the person is a troll who needs a good kicking…. Fair assessment?
bingo
The outsider and I had been exchanging posts for several days on another thread. I just checked and all the comments are gone, now.
They weren’t complimentary or cordial, but not vulgar(other than him calling me “crazy”).
He seemed to be on the verge of losing it on several occasions and apparently he did after my last reply to him.
I would like to say to those who posted favorable comments about me, that I truly appreciate the kind words and thought.
B0000MER!
SOONER! lot of love to go around in here. just need to watch for the idgits. ok to have differing opinions, but when you bring up test results(haha) and whatnot….that’s too personal
Whaaa?
Nobody said there would be a test. :}
Thanks EasTex…. I agree with the others, you bring a lot of good stuff to these threads. Keep it coming.
Thanks, bruh.
I appreciate that.
EasTex,
You have very good opinions and insight. I look for your post to see what you have to say. I might not agree with everything you say but we won’t agree on everything either. I respect you as poster that is knowledgeable and understands what is going on. Keep up the good posting.
Thanks, bruh.
I was taught we can’t always agree, but we can disagree without being disagreeable.
I guess when our season is considered over by some, they have to act like children instead of just going away quietly.
The season is over? Crap, I still have two Baylor tickets.
Those tix are gold, not quatloos.
I’ve had this the Baylor game circled for a while. However, I did expect both teams to be undefeated. No matter, I’m still going. Hopefully we wear the new unis.
Boomer!!
It is a make or break game for both teams, so the home folks will be fired up. I also thought they would both be undefeated when they met.
BU doesn’t seem to play well outside of Waco. I hope the crowd is so loud they can’t hear themselves in the huddle…or on Sunday.
Funny you should mention the unis, I was thinking about them and the BU game just this afternoon.
There is a six day hold on the scheduled kick-off release.
No big games scheduled for 11a.m.
ND vs Zona St/TAMU vs Auburn/WVU vs Texsa are all scheduled at 2:30.
The biggest game in the 6-7p.m.(cst) range is Bama vs LSU, so I think ABC could/might pick up the BU vs OU game.
SOONER!
In this person’s mind he knew how to make defensive adjustments that the coaches don’t and was obsessed with time outs.
The timeout guy? I remember that joker!
I suggested that no team should ever call a timeout during a game and that a stat should be kept on unused timeouts, at the end of the season a team’s success and their unused timeouts could be examined.
Perhaps I should have used a sarc tag.
Meh……on the Gibson deal. Frees up a schools for a linebacker….I hope.
Or a stud athlete?
/whitfield, please
So temps in Iowa are plummeting significantly further than forecast even few days ago.
Down to 25 tonight, kickoff now looks to be around 32degrees.
Nippy, not quite snot-cicle weather.
I thought I had seen every video ever made on OU football, many of them numerous times.
I was wrong.
I came across this video of the Taco Tech game from 2008 and it is raw footage, no incessant blathering by announcers, just the wonderful natural sounds of the loudest game in OU football history.
Dahu had 7 catches for 210 yards and 3 tds tonight.
Is that good?
I think it just shows that a good wide receiver target is right there at westmoore and since they just lost a big wr to transfer and there’s no guarantee DGB will be here next year. I think dahu has similar upside that dallis Todd has.
agreed. obviously just kidding. i think he’s pretty freaking good. hope we can somehow get him. and it starts with an offer
Yeah and if nothing else they need to let Louisville know that they aren’t taking our states top talent.
Why are we making no effort for him? K, Jordon, someone please explain.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s4sE8yQCgBs
Is this legit? If not, does anyone know where I can watch the game online?
Wish I could help. From what I’ve been told the free online streams are bogus for many different reasons.
There is a lot of places online to stream the game from. I will be doing that today as well. But the one above does not look like anything I have used. checkout wiziwig.tv
The youtube stream isn’t working.
Yup.
Add a new name to watch for the 2017 signing class, Kennedy Brooks. Last night he had 30 carries for 323 yds with 4TDs in an upset of #6 Cedar Hill.
I had originally planned on going to the Allen vs Plano West game, but when Bobby Evans was injured I lost interest. Wish I hadn’t, it was a high scoring game with Allen winning 70-41.
Kyler Murray: 20-29 422yds 5TDs passing/ 12 carries 89yds 2TDs.
Soso Jamabo: (sore ankle) 35 carries 243yds 5TDs/ one TD receiving.
Update on Rodney Anderson, he is now listed as 6’1″ 205lbs.
Season stats through nine games:
125 carries/ 1281yds/ 10.25yds per carry/ 20 TDs
The beautiful thing here is Anderson can hit the weight room and not have to be forced into burning a redshirt, as we have a strong game proven stable of backs, plus hopefully a committed and passionate redshirt freshman back namedJoe Mixon. Anderson is pretty impressive in his own right and when the is ready, he can earn carries.
He’s so young, no telling how much he will fill out. One of the most patient and talented runners I have ever seen.
December could be a good recruiting month if we land McKee, McNeal and jefferson. All announce within a week of each other
Check out LB from Houston Tx Naithin Fox he looks like a mix between Calmus & The Boz a must see we need this guy
