FOOTBALL

You just have to love the hypocrisy from the media who habitually chastise us idiots fans for having the audacity to question Josh Heupel and/or criticize a poor performance on the field, but Berry Tramel can write stuff like this. (NewsOK)

This was funny for about five minutes on Saturday, but now it just needs to go away.

Good enough for Katy Perry, but apparently not for the SEC propaganda machine that is CBS.

Hard to argue with this article stating the RRSO has been missing something for some time. (DMN)

Iowa State AD fined $25k by the Big 12 for his postgame remarks about the officials. (Big 12)

There will always be weird stories when it comes to recruiting, but this will forever be one of the weirdest. (The Big Lead)

Not to over-shadow football (it IS OU/Texsa week and I will be there), BUT if TaShawn Thomas is eligible for the basketball team, I have seen talking heads projecting us in the Final Four. Crazy.

  • Sooner Ray says:

Couple things, of course Shep has more YPG than some of our other great receivers, he doesn’t have to share with anyone. Glad Bob and Josh agree that the QB draw was open all day, the zone read keep has been open for weeks…….try that one now and then.

    • Zack says:

Well and I’m sure kj was open too but knight was throwing one-hoppers to him. If they struggle against texsa that will tell me that the coaches didn’t fix anything. This team is way more talented than tcu and texsa and should not be held in check 2 weeks in a row. Ou should win something like 42-17 but I wouldn’t count on that.

      • TheUndefeated says:

My only hope … at this time … is that the coaching staff has plans to tweak both the offense and defense a bit each game. Their tweaks were poorly coordinated last week (if there were any … QB draw?, dropping everyone save one into coverage?), so I’m hoping they get their caca together this week to effectively neutralize the UT gameplan. Otherwise, this RRS is gonna be an unnecessary brawl.

        • Zack says:

I agree and I don’t blame the offense too much they played well in the first half and had the defense done better in the first half then they would have given our offense a cushion. They all played bad and now hopefully a loss is the best motivator to get better “execution”
And I hope like learned not to have this defense scared and playing on their heels for anyone. They should have been attacking the LOS from the beginning.

      • Soonerr says:

I haven’t brought myself to rewatch the game yet–so I’m not completely sure–but I remember thinking a few of the throws to KJ were the result of the WR not working back towards the ball.

    • TheUndefeated says:

How the coaches are using tk9 makes no sense to me. He seems fragile, yet they run him up the gut into the teeth of the defense. He seems fast to me, yet they seldom let him run to the edges on zone reads. He seems inaccurate, yet they call pass play after pass play. When you throw in the fact we have tremendous beef on our OL and excellent RBs BUT no run game we can depend on … the entire offensive coaching staff makes me scratch my head in disbelief.

      • Stats says:

Maybe they were holding (too much) back for Texas(and Baylor), and it had worked out for them up until this week, when they obviously underestimated TCU?

  • outsider says:

This OU/Texas game feels like 1992….not excited, not important. Ho hum.

    • Cory Reedy says:

SO weird. There was ZERO excitement about the TCU game as well. And look how that went. Then the TCU game has TOTALLY deflated the Sooner Nation. I am TRYING my hardest to get up for Texsa….may take me a lil while.

  • Jed says:

And, that, boys and girls, is why you don’t fight with freight trains.

    • Indy_sooner says:

Smart man on that other F-150. I can picture his thought process “Do I stay and watch this, or do I book it…” Good move hightailing.

  • Stats says:

Way to go Big 12 (really 10)! Don’t do anything about the problem, just deny it, and make sure to punish the folks that point it out.

  • Bob Browning says:

Katy Perry wants Trevor to call? Sorry Katy, Trevor probably wants to date someone w/depth, character, and authenticity, which would leave you off the list.

    • Jed says:

What you say is true, but Katy’s family does engage in ‘speaking in tongues’, however, and that opens up some intriguing possibilities.
      Just sayin’

  • Stats says:

    OU/Texas Stat of the Day:
    – Bob, Barry, & Bud each have 9 wins against Texas; with a win this weekend, Bob would become the all-time leading OU Coach against Texas with 10.
    – Bennie Owen had 8; no one else is close.
(This is my own research and has not been vetted.)

    Its that time again….

  • soonerinks says:

I do not want to see Alex Ross starting again, that train has already left the station. Perine should start and Daniel Brooks should be the next back in if Ford can not play.
