Apologies if this feels a little light. Not the busiest of news days and I had an early appt. this a.m. which prevented me from my normal Internet deep dive for info.
FOOTBALL
Pretty cool.

Mack Brown looks to have been a little lax on drug testing his players. Charlie Strong, not so much. (AAS)
BASKETBALL
Lon Kruger picked up a 2015 commit last night.

1999 – The year that changed movies. (Yahoo)
Shawshank Redemption is 20 years old, sigh. (Variety)
Well done (as usual, IMO) ’30 for 30′ short on the sometimes disturbing fact of just how much control our minds have over our bodies. (Grantland)
Disgusting.
Man, remember how big a deal this movie was at the time?
Looks cute.

That Perine art is awesome.
It is awesome indeed!
Agree. Well done.
Shawshank Redemption is my favorite movie. Great storytelling. A Stephen King short story. The man can write.
Excellent film and even cooler director. Occasionally I get to fly around Frank Darabont (the director), and he is the most humble down to earth guy.

WTF—-why is he not writing for The Walking Dead anymore????
Great movie. King lives about 5 minutes from our house. He shops at the local Publix and scares all hell out of people with his very weird look.
Rosie O’Donnell lives in Maine???
Casey Key, Venice, FL. King owns the north end of Casey Key. Rosie bought a $5m house in the center of the Key last year. Oprah also has a pretty nice place there.
Lol! Okay man! If you’re gonna BS might as well go big! Lol!
Didn’t say I live on Casey Key. Said I live 5 minutes from Casey Key…big difference between $5m and $500k.
do a little research if it is important to you. There are plenty of stories about King or Rosie buying her place in the Sarasota or Venice papers.
I’ve done enough research to know that you’re full of s__t @soonerinlondon:disqus
Say hi to Ricky Dixon for me chap! Lol!
LOL!! I’m surprised that O’Donnell didn’t get the part in “Misery”.
I hate BYE weeks. : )
Mackey’s 30 for 30 is really interesting and well worth the 15 minutes. If you have young kids it will make you think how your actions may affect them later in life. Interesting insight.
“Looks cute.” ……….. really? Man card please.
Good work otherwise. 😉
I’m comfortable in my skin
If You guys want to see a clip of Rodney Anderson here’s the link. I hope it works.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZbgLa6hO9zo
Cale just keeps bringing in elite running backs. Anderson seems have another gear once he squares his shoulders.
He’s very good. I wasn’t impressed when I first saw his film 8 months ago but I watched more and more and really like the kid. Also by watching the film you don’t know that he’s playing against the best competition. 2 of those long touchdowns were in the state title game vs the team that was ranked number one in the nation earlier this year.
Another thing is that I’m starting to wonder if we will ever see mixon in a real game. I don’t know that he will last very long after the spring semester. If ross ford and perine all return next year then you add Anderson who may end up impressing the coaches in the spring, you may see mixon 5th on the depth chart.
If Mixon is good enough, he’ll work his way up the depth chart. The coaches aren’t in the habit of putting their best players down the depth chart.
Ross is not running the ball well enough to be secure about his spot. He goes down way too easily.
Yeah but I think ross has the top end speed none of the others have. Plus he has a chance to get better on film this year.
Cale has had an amazing run the last 16 years. The backs under his tutelage really become complete players, while also improving their patience and ability to read the holes.
New movie from Chris Hemsworth and Michael Mann, looks pretty good. Trailer watching makes up for some the ‘bye’ week.

I still get the feeling tech will steal this recruit from us especially if Reid pulls the trigger first.
If Reid pulls the trigger and commits, then it’s a win any way you slice it.
Good point.
Perhaps 1999 had “change” in film – Kubrik’s bomb of a last movie can’t undo his spectacular accomplishments.
For a great film year, go back 30 more – 1969:
Midnight Cowboy
They Shoot Horses, Don’t They?
The Wild Bunch
Z
Fellini’s Satyricon
Once Upon a Time in the West
Easy Rider
