thanks Super K, but I do not tweet (twitter?). Can barely work the puter as it is. LOL. Every game day, we will be at Albert G’s. Really good food and GREAT company. I won’t be there next week as the wife won us ten tix.
Sorry guys, the flu is still kicking my butt, so I didn’t get out to see Ykili Ross play last night. Poly won 24-14, and apparently shut down their opponent in the fourth quarter. Not sure how many if any catches he had. Poly’s RB scored 2 TDs and another receiver got their third TD. If I get more info I will let you know.
Yup….my wife is making sure I am totally good to go. With my meds I won’t be drinking any beer though. But I will still be drunk on the atmosphere on Saturday. I will text you early next week to set up a meeting spot.
As an Okie whose identity is bound to the history of my state, Sooner football means something more to me than just a game – it is a product of a shared life story. Don’t want to get too heavy. Just want to say, I love my state. I love my team. And I love it that the nation sees across the front our boys’ jerseys a label that is exclusive to a place that is home to a very tough and enduring people.
SOONER! I feel exactly the same way JT. Glad you had the guts to say it. My family suffered a lot and were proud SOONERS, both sides. I am talking land rush here. The red ones were here before that. Yes, it means a lot and I take great pride in it. Way to say it JT!!
Did anyone hear the commentators on Gameday say OU has good WRs, QBs, et cetera and that our only question is whether or not someone is going to step up in the backfield…
*facepalm*
None of them have seen us play. They didn’t watch any of the game (not even film afterward) last week and they won’t see any of it this week. The only guy at ESPN that DID watch film is Todd McShay and he said we don’t have any weaknesses…funny thing is he’s an NFL scout guy…not a CFB analyst and he knows more than the CFB “analyists”. Hey ESPN…DO YOUR HOMEWORK!
I’d like to hear Switzer answer this: How would you use the current stable of RB’s in the bone (who/where)? I think Knight would be stellar as a Wishbone QB.
checking in… Is it too late to predict 400yds passing for Trevor today. This looks like last year, where Tulsa thinks it’s better to stop the run. As if.
Ark. State DBs playing no less than 10 yards off Tenn. WRs. So take whatever Vols passing numbers you see (if you bother to look) w/ a MASSIVE grain of salt.
I think Knight (though playing a marvelous game thus far), might need a little “less air” on his deep balls. They sure are beautiful, but he has such an arc, when he sees guy open, and throws, the arc might be allowing that db to catch up on shep. Cuz shep def has a step…
If they choose to stop playing before the whistle why are we obligated to stop as well!? You’ve gotta be kidding me. Ridiculous call. Wish they would have shown it. Bad video along with bad announcing. Couldn’t they spend a little more money on a nationally broadcast game?
stupid rule, but it is the rule. When a guy pulls up and stops running then you can’t hit him. I agree with you though. It’d be fine to penalize him for a block in the back, but it’s ridiculous that a guy is penalized for a clean hit during the course of play. We always tell kids to play to the whistle, then penalize a kid that plays to the whistle because he hits a kid who doesn’t.
Not a huge fan of the play calling on that drive. Big run last series, we would have either gone long on the first play or hit it up the middle again. The screen is one I do not understand after a big series on O and D.
Knight used to throw darts on those long routes. Clearly, he has been coached to put more air under them but now the pendulum has swung too far in the opposite direction.
And what’s Heupel thinking today? It seems every other throw is the long ball. That will really screw up Knights completion percentage as those are low percentage plays. I expected to see more ground game and disappointed we haven’t.
Is it just me, or has our defense been playing pretty sloppy? I realize it’s really wet our there which is affecting our speed, but still. We can’t afford to play like this against a better team.
I think it’s been on both sides of the ball too. The D line hasn’t been getting their usual penetration, and I’m thinking they’re having a hard time getting leverage.
Ross is the classic one cut back. Give him a pitch or a big hole and he’s gone. Perine is just a banger. Ford has moves as well as power. But, yeah, I agree James, Ford is the best of the three.
Very very impressed with Gastelum. Great read on plays, Solid tackling, dude is all over the field. He needs a scholly IMMEDIATELY if he doesn’t have one.
I guess the network pandering just ticks me off. I want a major curb stomping inflicted on the shorthorns now. Watch Mack turn purple having to report on that.
I’m here to tell you. ESPN won’t make him do it. If OU stomps them the way we all want them to…ESPiN will avoid that game like the plague if Clown is onscreen.
Couple concerns after game are:
1. Team seems to get complacent (even 2’s/3’s) after a decent lead, would like to see more fire
2. Romar, while quick, 2-weeks in row has struggled to get pressure up middle on QB
#1 isn’t a huge deal but Romar concerns me should Phillips go down. Maybe I’m missing it
Romar may have outplayed him in camp and he may be 4th on the depth chart – but I’m glad we have Jordan Wade. That experience and multiple starts in place of Phillips last year are valuable. It’s a long year – hopefully soon he’ll play up to his experience & capability.
I’m with you on #1 and thought you put it first for a reason.
If the team can get complacent and have no fire it is cause for concern. Lots of big plays are given up and injured players result from complacency. I expect the 2’s and 3’s to play with their hair on fire when they come in.
With Romar I think it is new guy syndrome and is over thinking his assignments instead of playing instinctively.
I guess it came to mind 1st for a reason. It’s the main frustration I’ve had in 1st 2games. I didn’t view it as end of world at this point, but it’s certainly the exact thing that can derail a season eventually. I agree on the play on fire. Some composure is needed as well.
Secondary seems noticeably lacking leadership when Sanchez out, likely part of it on #2’s everywhere. Hopefully after a harder game that leadership will arise more.
We sure got banged up for being so dominant. What’s the status on Jordan Evans?
Also, read some comments on Rocky Top Talk, and it seems the Vols (1) weren’t as impressive as the end score suggests and (2) may have lost a WR playmaker Von Pearson to an ankle injury.
Reading some posts elsewhere that Sanchez has a separated shoulder. I know it’s been posted below that Stoops is saying the X-rays were negative on Sanchez, but he has said a player was just a little scratched up when they almost had to amputate. He is definitely a key player for next week against Tennessee. Is anyone hearing anything behind the crimson curtain?
Just heard smack clown sort of stick up for OU when Kanell said that OU looked good, but “hasn’t been tested”. He said something to the tune of “those guys from Tulsa could’ve tested them because they didn’t get offers from OU. OU could’ve came out flat and got beat, so give them credit, they’re a good looking team”.
Jus wanna say thank y'all for all the concern and support , I preciate it so much ! I'll be back , this is all part of Gods plan ! #G2G— Zack Sanchez (@ZSanchez15) September 6, 2014
@sterl_shep3 preciate it bro , yu kno it's jus a bump in the road ! Gotta get back out there wit my dawgs ! Congrats on the career game !— Zack Sanchez (@ZSanchez15) September 6, 2014
And ‘officially’….as of 10:00pm tonight.
FARGO, N.D. (AP) — ESPN is calling an audible for its popular College GameDay show by departing from its typical large-campus backdrops — think Michigan and Clemson — and featuring North Dakota State, owners of back-to-back Football Championship Subdivision titles and an early-season victory over a Big 12 team.
“North Dakota State, in a way, is sort of the Alabama of the FCS,” GameDay senior coordinating producer Lee Fitting said in explaining why the show is coming to Fargo on Saturday.
Blah Blah Committee, Blah Blah Strength of Schedule… Texas Still Sucks. If you wanna point and laugh at them stop by BON (don’t comment, that’s not nice), it makes for really funny reading…
I think the Big Ten will be the conference that won’t be represented in the CFP. They haven’t looked good today at all. And if Notre Dame keeps playing well they may end up getting in. Which would then leave 2 conferences out which I predict will be the ACC I don’t think FSU goes without 2 losses this year.
i hope they make these teams that schedule 1AA schools pay a little for having them on the schedule. i’m talking about let em know that you ain’t taking it and don’t ever schedule one of these again type stuff.
i hope they rank conferences, and rank teams in those conferences, and then spit out some numbers on who played whom
I worry that the team that goes undefeated will be handed a spot in. Despite the constant noise about how strength of schedule will be factored in. I don’t see it making a difference regardless of a lack quality opponents. This whole playoff will be a mess. That whole ordeal today with USC just shows there will be bias in these selections.
Brainiacs…I have a question. Am I reading too much into the fact that Alex Ross only had 5 carries today? He needs work. He is explosive and can break tackles…as we saw today. He can catch out of the backfield, which we saw week 1. Do the coaches not totally trust him on blocking assignments on passing plays? What gives?
He doesn’t read blocks as well as Ford and Perine.
Ross has superstar track speed for sure, and he can make that one cut and go, but he needs a sizeable hole (doesnt always happen) to get through that line like he did on the 82 yarder when no one touched him. If you noticed, he ended with 90 yards on 5 carries. Thats 1 for 82, and the other 4 for only 8 yds (He ran into blockers on the 4 carries for 2 yd avg.)
Ford is by far the most “polished” back, and I think his skill set is a nice mix of Ross AND Perine. I’m guessing we’ll see Ford become number 1 back, and Ross and Perine with be 2 and 2a.
Tulsa…not a joke….the made adjustments at half and started to move the ball….little slants on short passes, testing OUr lbs with their receivers….it only worked for a few series,,,CMstoops put an end to it pretty quick, with his adjustments. This D is for real, this offense is elite…and the special teams dominat4e…#no weaknesses.
Weaknesses:
(1) We only have 3 WRs that have shown they can consistently catch the ball
(2) We are very inconsistent connecting on the deep ball
(3) Our ILB depth is a major liability
(4) Our backup QB is a major liability with a starter with an injury history
I really think our “true” backup is Blake. If anything happens to knight, and we still have a major chance to do something big…Blake is the man, guaranteed. (unless something happened to both Blake and Knight, well, then might as well not worry about a “backup” at that point, lol)
Bell’s not going to make it to the NFL as a QB, and they’re not going to jeopardize his chance at getting drafted as a TE if Knight goes down. If Knight goes down, Thomas will come in and we’ll just ratchet down the offense to 90% runs…
I guess we’ll just have to see, but if Trevor goes down early, and we are still undefeated, or still have chance at big 12, coaches wont care about blake and NFL*, they’ll care about the Sooners, and honestly, I bet Blake would too;
cuz if Trevor’s not in, Blake is our best chance to win, and everyone, Including Blake, knows it.
Blake’s dream at NFL tight end could resume after Sooner season, a la Brad Smith some years ago. (Smith was Missouri QB until he graduated, then became receiver in NFL, pretty sure he’s still on a roster somewhere as a reveiver..)
good argument between you two. i understand both viewpoints, but this, to me, is what would happen. bob’s job is to win. secondarily, he gets guys to the nfl and that in turn brings in more and better recruits. good example on smith. and yes i agree that blake would do what’s best for ou and worry about future aspirations when they arise

Starting my day right.
Boomer Sooner!
Hope we get to see some passes to the TE
Hopefully the back end of the defence plays well most notably the free safety spot
I want to see TK9 be a little more accurate today. I’d also like to see a couple of deep balls.
Tulsa area fans are invited to join the OU Club of Tulsa at Albert G’s 421 E. 1st St. in Tulsa.
If you’ve got a twitter…tweet it out and put our twitter handle in there so we can see it and we’ll retweet it for you
thanks Super K, but I do not tweet (twitter?). Can barely work the puter as it is. LOL. Every game day, we will be at Albert G’s. Really good food and GREAT company. I won’t be there next week as the wife won us ten tix.
I don’t ask for much, but I’d like to see us challenge the win streak. Only 42 to go to tie
FOOTBALLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!
Samashe will have over 100 yards today…bank on it.
Damn, forgot to post a prediction thread yesterday. Sorry, y’all. Will definitely remember next week (assuming you want it to continue?).
I predict 500 yards offense for Sooners, 175 given up on D, and a Sooner Victory of 52-10.
Impressive prediction!
Hey! thanks! make it up to Stoney’s today?
Nope stayed home on the nice comfy couch.
If you guys are up for it!
Yes. I have michigan state winning by 13. I think I heard that Oregon is at 12-13 point favorite.
For ou I think mead will lead team in yards receiving this time.
I want a shutout.
BOOMER freakin’ SOONER!! Saturday Morning Football!!! WoooHooo!
Soooo glad I bought a poncho for today!! Off to Chapman Stadium…..BOOMER!!
Cody Thomas warming up, looks to be available today. Jordan Wade not dressed out for some reason.
I would expect to see a good dose of Cody today.
Jordan wade didn’t dress is this a sign he’s not happy or injury?
Maybe he’s having academic issues?
no clue at this point
Does life get any better?!! It’s gameday! BOOMER! Thanks TFB for all you do!
Hoping for a clean victory, no injuries and playing time for the backups.
SOONER! Love game day!
[Chest bump]!

Sure would like to see Blake Bell catch a TD today!
Would like to see him catch one and maybe pass for one as well as part of a trick play to keep upcoming def coordinators on their toes
I’d be happy with 5 catches, for 55 yds.
sent the message to Josh. You’re welcome
Would like to see some young receivers step up today
I’ll second that!
Did anyone hear the commentators on Gameday say OU has good WRs, QBs, et cetera and that our only question is whether or not someone is going to step up in the backfield…
*facepalm*
sounds like they had taken a short 2X4 shot between the eyes. (googly eyes)
when you don’t know what you’re talking about, it will eventually show itself
Trash tv at it’s finest.

Nice feature just now on “Grandpa” Tyler Evans and his getting back on the field.
On Sooner GameDay
https://twitter.com/GabeIkard/status/508283182136184832
How red is the stadium? I bet we are the majority.
ABC
decent start 😉
Nice blocking by KJ Young up the field
+1 and Ford
ahhh, stay on your feet bro!
BOOM!!!
that was quick
Boom
BOOMER!
SOONER!!
Sooner!!!!!
This could get ugly.
The way we like it
I can’t wait to see Cody Thomas get some snaps, lol.
I don’t think you’ll have to wait too long lol.
Prediction:
Watch out for the pass rush!
sack 1
sack attack!
Phillips just blew up the middle!
There’s one sack
Hey buddy
Keep your helmet close, everyone’s playing today!
!!!! If I had known the oolagah game was Thursday, I would have come in…
atta baby Chuka
Nice attempt at Obo
D-Fence
I think will see Cody Thomas half way through the 2nd quarter.
+1
I’ll be disappointed if it takes that long.
Nascar Pass Rush……I like that!
Neal stayed on his feet that time. Nice!
Neal working hard now
hell yea tough run after catch
Way too cute on that drive. Wheres those big backs?
Oh, Josh. I thought you had grown beyond this stuff. Bummer
I figure he’s just tuning some things up since no one can see us losing this game but scrimmage or not dominate the first quarter
horrible punt
Stupid stupid stupid. It was your chance to practice punts Jed
We shouldn’t even punt in this game, our backs can carry people six or seven yards.
Exactly. Heck a long FG attempt is better than that punt.
Tennessee trailing Ark. State 6-3 midway thru 1st qtr
But the sec?
trap game
9 min. left in the1st and Parker is already in there. He is going to be special.
Up disciplined play there tulsa. That’s why you won 3 games last yr
Like to see Trevor follow the ref blocking in front
https://twitter.com/MsPotts_ESPN/status/508289176232816640
Remember who told u first 🙂
lame
is their another matchup next week with more combined wins?
2nd high snap from Darlington.
TE please?
Use the diamond on this 3rd down
I hate that screen play, don’t care if it worked that time.
Manny Johnson made a living off that back in 2008
Nice
Knight Rider!!
That was pretty.
BOOMER!
That boy is good!
Trevor not looking for a place to slide for 31 yard TD!
Tulsa thinking slide all the way.
why are we not running at all? ain’t that part of being vanilla? obviously they suck vs the pass but they ain’t the 85 bears vs the run right?
working on work needed?
This
scrimmage
i’d still like to see some big boy ball
Been wondering the same thing.
Their weakness has actually been against the run. I think Bob is just trying to get his pass game tuned up.
Probably trying to give the young receivers some experience.
Getting Neal & KJ involved. They need reps
good point
Face it tho. Neel, Mead & You g need reps before TCU & on the road in WVU. Keep slinging in it to them
Yep. We could’ve run for 500 yards today, but at some point our passing will need to have rhythm. Good day to work it.
Not to nitpick, but Neal is looking pretty sloppy, and our run defense does too. Just me?
that is not a good matchup for Striker.
Again. Don’t let Dana see it. Please football gods.
Don’t let Dana see Striker in coverage. Nightmares in Morgantown.
“parker from the tulsa area. got away from the golden hurricane.” haha
What was spielman thinking?
BELL!!
TE!!
well, lookie there
Hate a wet field
Cleat change at half?
Too many dang slip downs. Did they not put on the right cleats?
Trevor needs reps it seems.
That deep ball….dang
I don’t think the receivers are getting good traction on the wet field, so they are tentative running. Just my opinion
Shep looked slow on it I agree
Durron Neal looks like he is impersonating Trey Franks!
Helicopters need to fly over dry this crap up
3rd high snap
Dang, had that one.
Nice play…
Another high snap
BELL TD!!!
Blake!
Touchdown TE!
Yes!!!!! Exactly what he needs to bring to the offense
Blake Bell!
LOVE that play tho
with his size if he can get inside his man, off play-action, that is virtually impossible to stop.
And it was even thrown behind him.
Textbook. How many did Gresham haul in on that play?!? It’s what they have needed on the goaline!
snatched it on the replay!
Blake Bell !!!!
BOOMER!!!!!
I got this!!! SOONER!!!!
Nice save!
Whoever was talking about Knight doing poor fakes, I gotta say I bought on that one. Also, BOOM!
Time for another drink
wow, Chuka just swallowed him whole
Holy crap. That got blown up
Striker with him all the way
Defense is doing great
Long 1st qtr
yeah, what’d we run, 300 plays…
checking in… Is it too late to predict 400yds passing for Trevor today. This looks like last year, where Tulsa thinks it’s better to stop the run. As if.
Bell is a ridiculous matchup in the redzone.
Todd McShay as a field analysis could change some of these guys’ futures. Play hard, look good, feed the hype, get paid.
Ark. State DBs playing no less than 10 yards off Tenn. WRs. So take whatever Vols passing numbers you see (if you bother to look) w/ a MASSIVE grain of salt.
Ndlooloole. I hope he keeps making plays so I can hear that commentator butcher his name.
Isnt this Mike’s second year back with Bob? dude on tv said 3rd year back, now i’m confused.
3rd year
Ha! Guess I forgot a year! lol
The year Austin from West Virginia destroyed our def.
Damnit! Same year A&M did in the bowl game. I remember now. Prob forgot on purpose!
3rd
Nope, third is correct (bowl games AM and BAma).
that actually helps jar my memory, thanks!!
saw Ford make another great blitz pickup earlier.
INT
right place, right time
SANCHEZ!
OSKIE!
He’s got a nose for the ball…
I’m just glad his hands have gotten softer. Kid shoulda had a billion picks last year
you don’t see many 8 yd flea flickers
Heck of a dive by Sanchez. Back to back interceptions
I know he had in the Sugar Bowl, so that’s 3 in a row. The announcers said that’s 4 games in a row for Sanchez, so maybe he also got one against OSU.
great throw there
Hey Trainer…..get Neal some longer cleats. DAMN!!
We can get away with this sloppy D with Tulsa, but we’re getting lucky here.
Ugh
Yeah he was early
money
Cutt
sanchez has what 5 picks in the last 4 games? Or is it 4 in the last 5…something like that…
he’s legit
he saves his arms on tackles
Lololol so true
He has 4
Blake Bell and his 1st TD as a TE!!!
BOOMER
SOONER!!!!
I think Knight (though playing a marvelous game thus far), might need a little “less air” on his deep balls. They sure are beautiful, but he has such an arc, when he sees guy open, and throws, the arc might be allowing that db to catch up on shep. Cuz shep def has a step…
couple of em were in sheps hands tho
True, but that high arc on throw, though accurate, allowed the db to catch up to shep before ball came down…cuz shep has the step on him..twice.
little less arc, and that ball arrives before defender.
It’s pretty slick out there, could very well just be the wet ball.
I am impressed with the accuracy and wet ball…
Yes, one slightly off pass, but then he came back with a beauty to Neal.
Tulsa is looking for that play, they have it covered well.
Indeed.
Trevor made a d back look pretty silly on his long td run.
no
oh frick
Hope it’s just a stinger
Yeah, me too. Dang
Doesnt Look high enough to dislocate etc. took it right on bicep.
Yup 🙁
helmet right to the shoulder…ouch
Come on Sanches, WRAP UP! If he didn’t lead with his shoulder, he would’ve been fine!
arms at his side head down. at his weight its only in his head he can blow people up by running into them
Sanchez is great at covering but the kid still does not know how to tackle. Hope it is just a stinger.
Stoops should’ve addressed this by now, I have no idea how he’s still this bad at tackling.
BOOM
Hmmm 4 the tallest in the USA. Learn something everyday
Damnnnn
Wilson laid him OUT!
I’m old school. do not appreciate the self bravado on field
wrap up, dammit
where’s Wilson’s bravodo now?
Julian wilson looking like a heat seeking missile lol.
Effffffff
that was not a pretty play for our secondary
Understatement
seems it is hard for them to focus as things have been to easy?
We need a couple of nice defensive plays right here to keep them off the board
Yea we do!
hell yeah we do
ISU has the lead on KSU 14-13
OU and Ohio State?
Good to see a tulsa wr fall down/sarc
secondary is really struggling right now
pass rush?
Lack of
not helping them
Jordan Thomas changed his number from 30 to 7 this week. Interesting
timeout OU D, classic
I believe that is what I was looking for
Oh my Gawd
Wow!
My feed dropped. What’d I miss?
Jordan p scored on a fumble.
WOW!
Got called back.
Tapper chasing down a WR to block him pion the 10 or so b4 the td
Thanks.
How bout that for pass rush.
Try him out for RB?
fridge 2.0?
That kid just pissed all over himself
What?!?!
Must be a title IX rule.
No doubt.
Sunshine crying?
yes!!!
Lol
Nice!
There’s our speed guy!!!!
That was nice as well
Is it next week yet????
he’s got about three gears that other guys don’t have…
When a 300 plus pound man is running for 80 yards, how is a player ever ‘out of the play’???
lol. yeah.
Seriously, what’d Ndule do? There wasn’t a replay.
Well that was quick. Ross with some serious speed.
Man, Ross has some wheels!
holy crap dude is fast!
Ross can fly when he gets a seam.
What?, When?
Anyone see who Ndule hit?
No. he must have been at the local McDonalds.
LOL
No
stone hands
Hatari…..
I used to watch that show when I was a kid.
How do you not catch that?
Is Hatari going to take Sanchez spot as the guy in the secondary who breaks up a ton of passes but can’t bring one down?
WHy?
Take a picture that will be the only time all year Perine is brought down by one guy!
That’s just crap
Any word at all on Sanchez?
In the locker room, no news.
One radio said possible separated ac, one said separated shoulder. They are not the same fwiw
todd, todd, todd, todd, todd…
Another shit-astic punt
They only have one thing to do right?
It’s not complicated…
Barnett still a bit of a liability at punter, IMO.
Yes
yeah, what’s up with that?
27-13 I St
It’s lonely at the bottom.
Not a huge fan of the play calling on that drive. Big run last series, we would have either gone long on the first play or hit it up the middle again. The screen is one I do not understand after a big series on O and D.
Time to work on some 2 min offense. Let’s see if we can move it into scoring position.
Play calling again is hurting this O.
Damn, get all the starters out of there!
Now!
Knight is talented but clearly no heisman contender
Nice come back by Bell.
obama’s getting some good tv time right now
Iowa state 28 KSU 13? lol
deep ball sucks
Knight used to throw darts on those long routes. Clearly, he has been coached to put more air under them but now the pendulum has swung too far in the opposite direction.
And what’s Heupel thinking today? It seems every other throw is the long ball. That will really screw up Knights completion percentage as those are low percentage plays. I expected to see more ground game and disappointed we haven’t.
Me thinks we’re messin’ with game tape to mess with Vols
As stated before, why the airballs?
Too much air… It’s a Major League punchline
Too high
2 minute offense needs a bit of fine tuning 🙂
Knight needs to work on the deep rout.
Paging Jason White.
TV hosts talking about how Knight needs to get the arc down on those deep routes.
Knight looked very poor on the last three passes.
Fake punt ? anyone?
Band member on the sideline made the wrong read. He and Knight need to communicate better
how tall is he?
Knight is 6 ft. The band member…could have been a girl
Much, much better, Jed.
finally, a nice punt
Half time adjustment on their way!
Maybe some new shoes? Traction appears to be an issue.
They have several choices of cleats I believe, and they appear to have chosen wrong for the first half. Lots of slips and falls.
What the heck was that? A punt in side the 10?
1 rush yard for Tulsa…..wow
9 yards, read that wrong
Neither one gets you a first down 😉
Sanchez?
Arm in a sling I think.
will miss ‘couple’ of games……..
love that game day said missouri better watch out against toledo, so with the blowout they can keep perpetuating the system they built up
Shut up Mack. Just shut up.
^^this^^
Man that feels like a full game already! Halftime? really?!
mack: “as long as purdue lets central michigan stay in the game, the pressure will swing right back at purdue” Thanks, captain obvious
Big 10 sucks
But they make each other look good.
And pigs mate lol
Lol JJ you’re on a roll!!
if you and the MAC are equals…you might suck at football
Gotta cover better.
Gotta tighten it up D!
Damn who’s down now
Is it Evans?
Yes
Jordan Evans
it was Jordan Evans, but he came back in
Gastelum is destined to play this year.
Yup.
hey, he just made a good play.
good play. hard to finish your tackle with your helmet covering your face. haha
jeez, just get our starters off the field.
yes, but, they need to play to learn. if we had taken them out when the game was decided they would have only played 4 minutes total
I just want them healthy.
risk vs. reward
Accurate!!
and I meant for the year!
Lol
Is it just me, or has our defense been playing pretty sloppy? I realize it’s really wet our there which is affecting our speed, but still. We can’t afford to play like this against a better team.
Hard to stay focused when the score is out of hand, no excuse though.
Omg classic. Wtf? A timeout out of a timeout… Heads should roll
We’ve used that play before.
Many times….
Timeout JJ needs a beer 🙂
Sanchez injury anything serious? Any word yet?
Well, maybe a shutout next week, then. 🙁
I’ll allow that.
Aw, thanks. Lol
Whew, I know right!
There goes the blow out!
They’re playing like it’s raining! lol
D is looking very sloppy after the half. Mike is going to be angry. And he should be. That effort stunk.
Agree. No reason for it
Sooners need to stay focused.
Wish it wasn’t so wet. Ford could’ve made a cut for a big one.
Get in the diamond and run the ball down their throats. Use clock and then bring in Thomas for some work.
atta boy blake. defend your boys
Where? On the Shepherd sideline throwdown?
yeah. no need to finish all the way to the bench. he got in ole boys face
word
FORD!!
Ford is tough in Oklahoma !!
Man, they are struggling with footing on the wet turf. Nice solid run on that TD though. Big holes by the OL there too.
I think it’s been on both sides of the ball too. The D line hasn’t been getting their usual penetration, and I’m thinking they’re having a hard time getting leverage.
untouched!
I’ve played in snow and rain. I always thought it was much tougher in the rain.
can’t they get some canned air to clean of their camera lenses?, round here!
Driving me crazy
yeah, that’s pretty weak for the “a” team. I mean, there is precip during football sometimes..
Yep, and it was broadcast in 720p instead of 1080i … to most of the U.S., no less.
Hodgsen seems to be the only Sooner not having trouble with the wet turf.
Geno!!
BIG GRIS!!
Geno!!!
Swat that qb away
Lol! He did didn’t he!
I have more respect for Chase Daniels now. At least he got on and rode Loftin for the 10 yards!
Both times
Don’t you meab booger Daniels???
Will be sporting his number next week at the Tennessee game!
I’ve been on the Geno train since he was still showing heart late during a beat down from the horns
Is that his third or fourth career TD?
I think 4.
Yeah. I think it’s 4
Hey Todd McShay, you see that?
that’s more like it…
Yeah, a much better effort on that Tulsa drive. LOL
haha. probly don’t wanna get chewed on no more
no
come on guys
Hope Walker is ok.
Remove starters please.
Guys. What else is new? OU seems to have more injuries than any other team. Even the players that move on and go to the NFL.
I get that our guys need reps to get ready for TN, but that field is wet and we need to get the starters out of there.
I’m startin to lean thay way also my friend
got lucky there, that was way too easy
man, if Ross has a lane he’s great. but if there’s even one guy there, he just puts his head down, doesn’t even try to make a move.
He doesn’t have a move Jordan.
Why is TK still in the game?
Just got caught up on the game…are we really averaging 11 ypc in the running game? Why do we keep throwing the ball?
His name is Josh.
At least our “run into the line” plays end up gaining 3-4 yards now.
lucky again, no sure what he thought he saw there
nice coverage from Brooks there
offensive PI for f’s sake, he grabbed Wilson like crazy
yes
you should do color!
Can we have one of those?
Can we just line up in the diamond and run the ball down Tulsa’s throat…..please
or
99 yard drive coming up
Coughs… Nice deep ball
only settle for jason white deep ball now.
Pretty much
Nice pitch and catch, but why are we still throwing the long ball? RUN IT!!!
Because we know the run game looks good, but the deep passes need a lot of work.
Yet another floater pass where the receiver has to wait on it!!
Classic FUJH call there. Deep ball to shep screen him the other way.
fujh?
Yep. Josh Heupels head scratching approach to OC
I think those screens are based on TK’s read of the D lineup. That play fell apart at the get-go tho.
bad call
I’m impressed with Shepard hanging in there especially when it looked like he got dinged up earlier.
He’s lucky he didn’t get hurt bad.
Iowa State is still beating K-State???
yes
Interesting.
Any updates on Sanchez or Walker?
Walker on sideline w/rest of DL.
My brother says Sanchez in sideline in sweats. Fwiw.
man, trevor might get one of his guys killed at some point
More than one at this rate
Good move by Neal.
great run from Ford
Dang Ford
Ross and Perine both bring different skill sets that are very useful but it seems pretty clear to me that Ford is the best of the three.
Ross is the classic one cut back. Give him a pitch or a big hole and he’s gone. Perine is just a banger. Ford has moves as well as power. But, yeah, I agree James, Ford is the best of the three.
I hate synthetic turf.
I hope this is 4 down territory
never mind
99 yd drive as ordered!
Dang, its still raining and we’re still scoring:-)
Lol at Sheperd. I guess Stoops was getting too upset at the superman, so he and Neal came up with their own thing.
Let’s start getting all the second team guys on both sides of the ball in, get this game over and go home.
Agree. Get Thomas on the field, give him a few short passes, and just run the ball.
5 bucks says Trevor will be back in for the next series
lol
i’m game
I’ll take it. $5 Thomas is in
yeah, Thomas is warming up and Trevor has his helmet off, looks like i spoke too soon
your on
Did anyone else notice Evans sort of loafing up to a tackle as it ended and getting his knee rolled up on?
Chapman will always be Skelly Stadium to me
Yup I agree. Played there in HS. Skelly still works.
Where did u go to HS? It’ll always be Skelly
Bishop Kelly and Tulsa Central.
I grew up north of tulsa
wow
What happened? My feed crashed again.
only 10 or so yds on return but shep was shifty
Thanks.
yessir
Not sure why he’s still returning punts this late
it is easier to decide to fair catch, or get outta the way, or whatnot, but yeah i agree, shouldn’t be in there at all
Gastelum(sp?) has filled in well today.
shades of Joe W on that one
Flea Flicker early on, Trevor out before the third series 4th Quarter, Stoops has gone full tilt radical!!
2’s on both d and o. I love this. Get those boys some game time and ready to play for real.
McNeese state tied with Nebraska
Very very impressed with Gastelum. Great read on plays, Solid tackling, dude is all over the field. He needs a scholly IMMEDIATELY if he doesn’t have one.
Looks like he’s getting one! Staring to feel better about our depth at ILB
He’s getting one AND a game ball:-)
SMU got destroyed.. or is getting.
North Texas? Wow.
Hey, Rip got a catch! Good for him.
Raving? About baseball? Just glad Sunny is gone’ more like it
Better punt I guess
ISU up 28-26 and the ball with about 4:30 left in the game.
nebraska scored with 20 sec left
Abdullah is legit. Wow, that was a great run.
walk on, walk on
Fitting ending
Gastelum, int in the endzone!
Man, Gastelum had a great game. That experience last week really helped I guess.
K State inside the redzone with 2 minutes, down 28-26. Down to the 11 now.
Next up….Vols.
Handing out beatings. Any volunteers?
BOOMER ! !
Sooner!!!!!
might have to tune in the Stanford USC game to see what the Stanford band has cooked up…
2-0, bring on the Vols
Dusty Dvorcek is a much better sportscaster than Mack Brown. Far better.
Agree
who isn’t?
I guess the network pandering just ticks me off. I want a major curb stomping inflicted on the shorthorns now. Watch Mack turn purple having to report on that.
I’m here to tell you. ESPN won’t make him do it. If OU stomps them the way we all want them to…ESPiN will avoid that game like the plague if Clown is onscreen.
I hear ya.
Therefore, we must double curb stomp. Then take extra time gloating with the Golden Hat trophy.
A final thought.
Bob will forever have a winning record over Mack . . .
looks like you may be getting your wish…:-D
Dusty really knows the game and the Sooners, and it shows. He could compete with any of those “sportscasters” from that sports station in Connecticut.
Where was Matt Dimon?
oh good question
Banged up. Didn’t suit up.
Will he be back for the Tenn game?
From what I gather, yes. One of those “He’s banged up, let him relax and recover” things.
thanks
warm up sched is over and I’m concerned about the severity of some injuries
ISU is down 32-28, but driving. 40 seconds left.
its over KSU wins
I bet Derek Patterson is still feeling the hit Julian Wilson put on him.
If that hit doesn’t make the Sports Center highlight reel, something is seriously wrong over there.
Something is always wrong over there.
Yeah that was probably another Captain obvious statement. You are correct of course.
Agreed!
On the Android App it shows up. Was out today and saw it there.
Also, xray negative for Sanchez. Walker sprained knee.
Well deserved.
Nice chop block on Walker by the Tulsa OT. Of course he couldn’t handle him man-up.
Awesome! Now he just needs to cut his hair and shave.
That kid can have a ponytail if he keeps playing like he did today
Ha ha, but if he can play like that and cut his hair, that would still be better.
Maybe a tie-dyed Mohawk would be in order. ; )
Lol
Gastelum awarded a scholarship.
‘Bout damn time.
Most dominant showing in a while.
More big plays in one game than I can remember in years..
“We’re just beginning…” – Bob Stoops
What I like to hear!
Stoops:
X-rays negative on Sanchez.
Walker has a sprain and will be out for a couple of weeks (prelim)
Thank god! When I watched that play I thought for sure that he had broken his arm…that helmet hit HARD in a bad spot.
Any news on Sanchez? I heard possibly dislocated his shoulder
Oh snap, I didn’t know he got hurt. I am working and was going back and forth to the customer lounge to watch the game
xrays were negative.
my attention was divided between the game and watching the us open…….did quick ever get the ball passing or pr…….thxs
mo. st. a drop from being up 7-3 on lil bruh
game day in norman for tennessee.
Anybody else think that zer0 st hand wave looks like a modified Nazi salute?
No. It looks *exactly* like wheat. Waving wheat.
J.W. Walsh on crutches.
Osu might be better w out him
Don’t you know? All of their qbs would be Heisman contenders… Can start anywhere
Maybe I’m missing it
Yeah, energy was up and down throughout the whole game. Maybe it was the rain?
Same thing in both games, almost exactly.
Not saying huge deal on energy, but Romar ability to get pressure concerns me.
Something for JY to investigate in his “Trench Warfare” analysis.
I hope you’re right on Romar, quite possibly.
Maybe give Romar a little more than 2 weeks/2 games to get his feet under him. He’s drawing double-teams much of the time.
Evans went back in immediately & played
D’oh! How’d I miss that?
I don’t think he played much after that. He might have only been in on the next play because Caleb lost his helmet and had to come off…
Did Quick play at all? Didn’t hear his name called. Nice game from Neal. That’s big having someone step up opposite of Sheppard
He was on punt return once.
He was out in every punt return, as a second returner.
Yes he played on offense as well
Reading some posts elsewhere that Sanchez has a separated shoulder. I know it’s been posted below that Stoops is saying the X-rays were negative on Sanchez, but he has said a player was just a little scratched up when they almost had to amputate. He is definitely a key player for next week against Tennessee. Is anyone hearing anything behind the crimson curtain?
You shut that filthy mouth…lol (the “lol” makes it better…right?)
FWIW, in SI’s roundup they said OU has shown so far that they belong in the playoff. Front 7 looks to be the “real deal”.
This makes me a little less hopeful.
Agreed. This seems to indicate there is some rehab and/or more involved.
All I can hope for is that he is talking about having to be taken out of the game and having the injury scare. I fear that is not the case though.
damn…
#G2G, though…(I’m still holding out hope…)
I think that means glory 2 God.
Good 2 Go?
It means he is in possession of two goats…
Thanks! I’m not schooled in the twitterverse lingo. Also, I’ve been out of the goat game for awhile, despite my name.
Gods plan is for you to start wrapping up on a tackle Zsanchez15.
Well said. Looks like he went to the Gabe Lynn school of tackling…
Saw that too. Honestly, we probably won’t know until someone comes out and just says it clearly.
Don’t think we see him next week, after that who knows how soon. Hopefully by WV.
Honestly, I think we’ll be good w/out him next week. I’m not buying what Tennessee is selling.
Yeah, didn’t Tenn. have a guy or two get dinged today?
From what I understand they did.
Need him for wvu period.
K. Thompson getting some good PT for Utah.
Was that you that said Petty’s injury was being downplayed? Cuz he’s a scratch now… Good call.
Can’t remember who said that but I was thinking that.
Fractures in the spine take longer than a week to heal, methinks…
HolaKyle is on the case.
Soooo how much we charge for Gameday to come to Norman?? 🙂
Are they coming? I’ve heard yes and no.
I believe so. Something about The King being part of the show??
Everything I’m seeing other places say Fargo.
✔ @KirkHerbstreit Follow
If the Bizzzzon win today @CollegeGameDay is headed to Fargo next week for the 2nd consecutive year!! NDSU are you readdddy??
10:59 AM – 6 Sep 2014
Wouldn’t want eSecSpin to give OU any more cred and pub with the biggest recruit weekend and an expected beatdown of another sec poster team would we?
Herbstreit actually got accepted to an institution of higher learning? His spelling is atrocious….
Confirmation tonight.
Seems like ESPN College Gameday would be a lock for the sold out game in Norman, Oklahoma, right?
Well, you’d be wrong.
Official. BREAKING: GameDay is heading back to Fargo! #GetUp4GameDay pic.twitter.com/snJMnfgp0U
Tyrone Swoopes era begins with a 3 and out.. (chuckle)
Reporters to geneo: have you finally found a home on defense? Geneo to reporters: I think I’ve found a home in the end zone…. Take. A. Bow. Sir.
Bwaaahahahaha…..nice!
I’m rooting for Texas! We need a strong strength of schedule. But man its ugly over there!
They sure don’t have that big scoring threat that we’re used to seeing.
yeah, ever since durant left, its been tough sledding
HA!
i was hoping somebody would see it as a joke, not that i’m an idiot…that part is a given
blasphemy….goes against everything Sooner in me.
Ban kt-raida. ; )
Sorry just can’t do it…….sooner stab my eyes out.
Going to be a looooooong year for texas.
Oregon laying it on Sparty now.
Had to record game so just got through watching it. Julian Wilson WOW!
Texsa will never let BYU join the Big XII.
I was JUST thinking, man we should have gone after BYU for the B12…. yeah, never happen now.
I was going to write that!
HAHAHA….no way in hell now!
See I was just thinking BYU is the new KSU just the team that texsa can’t beat
Maybe La Tech isn’t the worst team ever.
We are REALLY, REALLY good. This team has an edge…and more importantly, TALENT.
Also, James, your battery is dangerously low…
Blah Blah Committee, Blah Blah Strength of Schedule… Texas Still Sucks. If you wanna point and laugh at them stop by BON (don’t comment, that’s not nice), it makes for really funny reading…
I’ve been following a bevo board during the game, heads are hanging low. They are hoping to have good games with KU and ISU. Pretty funny stuff.
BON is hilarious, but Barking Carnival is pure gold!
Big Ten 2-2 against the might MAC today.
big 10’s brutal so far.
i hope they make these teams that schedule 1AA schools pay a little for having them on the schedule. i’m talking about let em know that you ain’t taking it and don’t ever schedule one of these again type stuff.
i hope they rank conferences, and rank teams in those conferences, and then spit out some numbers on who played whom
I worry that the team that goes undefeated will be handed a spot in. Despite the constant noise about how strength of schedule will be factored in. I don’t see it making a difference regardless of a lack quality opponents. This whole playoff will be a mess. That whole ordeal today with USC just shows there will be bias in these selections.
what part of sc you talking? i didn’t get to watch a bunch of that
AD went on the field to argue a call with the refs… unless I’m mistaken he’s supposed to be a member of the selection committee
haha. i haven’t seen that. bit of a conflict of interest. probly won’t even be brought up, especially by that 4 letter word in conneticut
looks like a guy from usa today is calling for haden’s job on the committee. wouldn’t hurt my feelings, unless they filled it with finebaum
really? you lose your best player before the season, and it makes you a shell of yourself, and your 1st 2 opponents hand you both games?
Brainiacs…I have a question. Am I reading too much into the fact that Alex Ross only had 5 carries today? He needs work. He is explosive and can break tackles…as we saw today. He can catch out of the backfield, which we saw week 1. Do the coaches not totally trust him on blocking assignments on passing plays? What gives?
He played a lot of plays on Special teams today.
He has also had injuries in the past. Keeping him healthy is big.
Keith Ford is more explosive, and Ford and Perine can both break more tackles…
He doesn’t read blocks as well as Ford and Perine.
Ross has superstar track speed for sure, and he can make that one cut and go, but he needs a sizeable hole (doesnt always happen) to get through that line like he did on the 82 yarder when no one touched him. If you noticed, he ended with 90 yards on 5 carries. Thats 1 for 82, and the other 4 for only 8 yds (He ran into blockers on the 4 carries for 2 yd avg.)
Ford is by far the most “polished” back, and I think his skill set is a nice mix of Ross AND Perine. I’m guessing we’ll see Ford become number 1 back, and Ross and Perine with be 2 and 2a.
well the whole B10 brand is gonna take a big hit in the opinion polls this week…
Don’t look now, but with 4 mins before half, it’s 13-9 UTEP over texsa tech….EL OH EL!!!
#turntup #ontherise#coachgosling
http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ncaaf/2014/09/06/usc-ad-pat-haden-press-box-sideline-argue-call-for-trojans/15210671/
Texas Tech shouldn’t be surprised, UTEP is a much better team than Central Arkansas.
it was nice of them to pull it out of their 4th point of contact just enough to avoid another OOC loss for the B12… Probably no such luck next week.
Just learned from an inside source that Zach Sanchez’s shoulder has been ripped completely off. It’s just not there anymore.
That’s what Bob meant by the X-RAY being negative… It showed absolutely no shoulder.
LOL, and not funny. AT THE SAME TIME!
I guess we’ll just have to see, but if Trevor goes down early, and we are still undefeated, or still have chance at big 12, coaches wont care about blake and NFL*, they’ll care about the Sooners, and honestly, I bet Blake would too;
cuz if Trevor’s not in, Blake is our best chance to win, and everyone, Including Blake, knows it.
Blake’s dream at NFL tight end could resume after Sooner season, a la Brad Smith some years ago. (Smith was Missouri QB until he graduated, then became receiver in NFL, pretty sure he’s still on a roster somewhere as a reveiver..)
But, lets hope this scenario never arises! lol
Agree to disagree, but yes, let’s hope we don’t find out…
good argument between you two. i understand both viewpoints, but this, to me, is what would happen. bob’s job is to win. secondarily, he gets guys to the nfl and that in turn brings in more and better recruits. good example on smith. and yes i agree that blake would do what’s best for ou and worry about future aspirations when they arise
