Turns out Missouri did not support Dorial Green-Beckham’s waiver request as we’d been led to believe, thus making the NCAA’s denial of said request even less of a surprise. (KC Star)

OU vs. FSU in the Rose Bowl? Yes, please. (CBS Sports)

Charlie Strong suspends two offensive lineman and Texas now has the least experienced o-line in the country. (AAS)

I’m stunned, STUNNED I SAY, to hear more accusations about Oregon being a dirty program. (NFL)

Based on some of the reactions/altercations I’ve seen at OU games with fans who stand during game play, I fear this could become an actual thing in Norman as well. (CBS Sports)

Charles Walker, ladies & gentlemen.

OTHER

Hell of an effort.

This ‘Meat Mountain’ looks disgusting and thus insanely overpriced at $10.

Happy to see they finally got around to making that Pablo Escobar movie from Entourage.

That Charles Walker play was insane. He didn’t just get penetration – he pushed the tackle several yards into the backfield and threw him to the ground when he had no use for him anymore.

  • hushnpa says:

    yes stunning ,, Oregon ,, who’dathunkit ,, tears in my eyes ,,, whahahaha ! ehh ..
    my sides hurt ..

    • Jed says:

Right? Oregon? Cheating? Good Lord, I hope Sparty stomps them this weekend. A shutout would be a wonderful thing to see.

  • Sooner Ray says:

I’m gonna have to get a meat mountain today.

  • steveinok says:

I’m texting Sooners to whatever number next Saturday to rort section 9 for standing the whole game. Section 9, you’re officially on notice! /sarcasm

    • steveinok says:

Rather, report. Rort would be much much worse.

    • Jared William Reininger says:

I got some tickets to the LaTech game. We were on the second row. It was all awesome and great until the people next to us started moving in, specifically those to my right. I am sure everyone is aware at how crowded the seats at the stadium are, especially with those seat backs they put in, well the lady started complaining saying we were sitting in her seats, which I was pretty much sitting in the person next to me’s lap, then the mother in law showed up and started throwing a fit saying we needed to move down, which I literally was in pain at how tight I was squeezed in. Then they started bitching cause we stood up during third downs or when the people in front of us stood up, so needless to say I won’t be sitting in those seats any longer.

I love the atmosphere at the stadium, especially for big games, but I am ready for the renovation which will make more room per seat at the least, but as far as the standing goes, I say if you go to the game, be prepared to stand, if you don’t want to stand, stay home and watch the game on TV. Just my $.02 on the subject, since all of you asked for it. lol.

      • Chris White says:

OU football shouldn’t be a luxury fine dining evening. We are supposed to be one of the toughest places to play in the nation. Look at the Seattle Seahawks fans, they never sit, they literally jump the whole time. So I agree, if you go to the game, enjoy yourself, stand up and try to lose your voice by the end!

        • Jared William Reininger says:

I totally agree, people around us even complained about yelling. I was like, you are at an OU game, there will be yelling, I for one will try to yell louder than everyone around me. I love that part of it, that is why I go to the game, but this is the first time I have really had these issues, usually everyone is friendly and cool, apparently I got placed in the lame section however.

          • FeedtheMonster says:

I have to admit that I sit some of the time, but not when the action is intense and calls for action. TV time outs mostly. I usually lose my voice to some extent and almost pass out from screaming often. The thing that bothers me the most is the constant going to the bathroom/concession stand.

      • Perry Dickey says:

Its like the time the lady was bitchin at me because of the smoke from my table. Even though we were sitting IN A CIGAR BAR!!!!

      • J J says:

I sucked it up & bought the chairs the season. I have 2 seats that 99 % of the time has 1 butt in them (mine). I pay for 2, but my kid sits w/grandparents. I am sick & tired of people who buy a couple of tix not together & try to squeeze in. The ND game 2 years ago there were 4 people too many in our row. That’s closest I have been to raising hell with security. Luckily we all know each other & had a good idea who didn’t belong…

  • blaster1371 says:

Strong was brought into Texass to change the team culture lets see if the fans have the stomach to weather the process. If Texass beats BYU then it affirms what he is doing, if not……. Well the drums will begin beating Austin.

    • leatherneck1061 says:

Yeah that’s an interesting point that I’ve thought about a few times. The problem with texass fans is most of them never realized there was any problem. “Entitled prima donnas? Mentally soft? What the hell are you talking about?” What seems obvious to everyone else is completely lost on them. I mean sure maybe they have a little bit of an entitlement mentality, but they seem to think it’s ok because, by golly, they’re Texas!

      • Boom says:

Also, with ATM’s success over the last 3 years hasn’t helped the UT faithful. The natives are restless and they want to win now. They can’t take the taunting they are receiving from the ATM.

      • DCinAZ says:

That didn’t seem to be the case over on Shaggy Bevo. They all seemed very aware of their team’s soft mentality and from whom that culture was originating.

  • Jeremy Phillips says:

I assumed by Pinkle’s response to the DGB question he got last week.. that they didn’t actually support the waiver…

  • leatherneck1061 says:

Was watching the game with friends that night. We rewound that play by Walker and rewatched it like 5 or 6 times…..in awe and almost disbelief. He just completely abused that guy. Drove him backward like he was a 6-year-old child. Just…..wow.

  • lovethemsooners says:

I’m curious if anyone on staff can confirm if OU is wanting to move Mark Andrews to TE. If so, what Andrews’ reaction to this move might be since one of the primary reasons he chose OU was the promise to play WR and not TE.

    • John Garner says:

Not on staff but I just read a James Hale report that Mark is now sitting in the TE meeting room and will be used primarily as a flexed TE. Apparently he’s disappointed by not getting any PT this year but he loves OU.

      • Zack says:

But do you trust the source?

        • rphdenton says:

his remarks on the te move are solid……..how Andrews is taking to it is murkier…….time will tell

          • lovethemsooners says:

That’s what I was thinking. James isn’t exactly batting .500 when it comes to his “predictions”. He was also late in reporting it, as if to suggest that he didn’t know until someone else told him, so that makes me slightly skeptical in regards to how Andrews is dealing with it according to James.

          • rphdenton says:

yeah, esp when you read the link of his signing and Andrews says (quoted) that bstoops promised receiver, no te……perhaps the major reason he signed……..yeah, hale had some story about he told oui about the move but there was a screw up somewhere…..unless I missed it, never saw any remark from boulware about a switch….

        • Jordan Esco says:

The move to TE is accurate.

      • Boom says:

I’ve always thought they would use him like Jace Amaro from Tech. His body and size at 6’6 and 240, he would be a force in that position. He is not fast enough to create seperation at WR. He has to wait his turn as it’s Bell’s show this year.

      • SoonerfanTU says:

I know all kids think they can come to OU and get PT, but I would have been willing to bet a lot of money on Andrews not playing this year. Just too many guys ahead of him at both WR and TE.

  • Ed Cotter says:

Sorry, not gonna be sitting down at the Tennessee game, except at timeouts…maybe. Never had issues with the swearing. Ohio State fans must be some crazy sumbitches to have to resort to reporting people.

    • Malicong says:

There was one guy in our section that was tossing out f-bombs in the 1st quarter at the La Tech game. All is took was for one guy to turn around and ask him to tone down the language when the kids are around and it didn’t happen again. I have never had a problem to where I felt security needed to be called.
Standing should be required for some games.

      • lovethemsooners says:

That’s been my experience too. Unless the person is knockdown drunk, if you confront them in a civil manner, you usually get good results.

      • paganpink says:

Yes, There was a woman who was at least in her seventies straightening out a guy doing the same thing at one of the Red River Shootouts I went to! He looked like a ten year old caught stealing a cookie. No one dares talk back to grandma, and he knew it! The crowd would have swatted him like a bug. Not another F bomb the rest of the game! Most Okies are such good people. I’m always proud to be among them.

    • SamSooner says:

I’m going to the Ohio State game Saturday. My seats are good: front row behind the players bench. I have to admit that it is irritating when people next to me stand up and block my view.

  • Swanny says:

Funny how things have changed just in the last decade. My first game was 1999, and ever since then there’s been a progressive step down with fan participation in the games. Fewer and fewer people standing, and more people getting upset at you for standing. My theory, if I wanted to sit down and be quiet I’d go watch the game at a nursing home. I don’t even sit down and shut up when I watch the game at home, why would I pay $200 to do that at the stadium?

    • cpearc00 says:

Couldn’t agree more. I’ve always thought our fan base sits down too much, mainly due to the fact that, typically, the only people that can afford or get access to 50-yard line seats are those older than 40 or so (from my experience it seems closer to 60), and who are much less inclined to actively participate in the game. Say what you want about low student attendance at open practices, but there’s nothing like experiencing the game from the student section. It’s how the whole stadium should be.

      • Swanny says:

True story about the student section. Favorite game ever was the ’04 OSU game. They gave all of us in the student section Gilligan hats, it rained after they put them out though. Those things turned into weapons. It rained Gilligan hats every time an OSU fan walked by. We were all so hyped cuz of the crap that Les talked before the game about finding out who the best team in the state was.

  • Zack says:

Ryan newsome removed Oregon from his top teams. Now has ou, texsa, ucla and tenn. With him taking Oregon out (who’s probably the best fit) would tell me distance may be a factor. I see this being between ou and texas. With the winner of the RRR this year being the favorite.

    • BigJoeBrown says:

I imagine the QB situation is a big deal to him as well. Knight is only a sophomore, meanwhile Swoops (Soph) and Heard (FR) as both young as well. Knight is a bit more proven, if the Texas QBs don’t develop this season and the wr’s aren’t getting the touch’s, I imagine it may have an effect on the Newsome’s decision.

  • soonermusic says:

Not surprised to see comments about Oregon’s program either, although I don’t think I’d want to give this guy’s story much weight without other support. Too much baggage. Plus, he says he was “played” in that he was promised a house and a car and never got a house or a car. That’s not very convincing–to me anyway.

  • DCinAZ says:

We’ll probably be hearing recruiting stories slipping out of Baylor soon, too.

  • TheFuerte says:

Don’t know where to put this with no open post, but I think I’ve talked my wife in to going to watch Burleson play tonight. I have a couple of sideline passes as well as an invitation to the press box up stairs, so I should be able to see Kenneth Mann in the context of the play as well as up close. I’ll update you tonight on what I see.

    • Stats says:

We’ll be attending our hometown Plano Senior High School games this year, so we should see Sotonye Jamabo (Plano West) and Bobby Evans (Allen, Tx) play this year.

  • KellyB says:

Many of you have probably seen this — and not to beat a dead horse — but this was interesting feedback, if nothing else, about the Joe Mixon video

    https://oklahoma.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1677637

    • paganpink says:

This from R.J. Young; When Mixon looked like he was trying to leave after possibly saying something he shouldn’t have, Molitor, the victim, initiated the physical confrontation with a push into Mixon’s chest, which didn’t seem to move him much.

So, R.J., you mean it was Mixon walking away from a confrontation and then you-with no audio at all- inject your own opinions to infer ” he LOOKED LIKE he was trying to leave after “POSSIBLY saying something he shouldn’t have.” then label Molitor “the victim” while stating yourself that she “initiated the physical confrontation”.
And from a guy named Carey Murdoch this bit of Sherlockian wisdom; “How do you know what was said? We don’t. There was no audio on the surveillance
footage. So we can’t really know what was said to Molitor’s male friend. But the
forceful way that Mixon’s head bobbed toward the man seemed to indicate he was
saying something pretty nasty” WOW. Head bobs, huh. Which he then sums up with this amazing leap unsupported by his own words above; “Personally, the homophobic behavior is troubling. A lot of sports fans in Oklahoma won’t feel that way, but I do. Mixon had a chance to remove himself from that situation. He obviously had his walk-off shot to Molitor’s gay friend. Then he had another opportunity to walk away after Molitor tried to slug him.”
So Carey, you say you have no idea what is being said because there is no audio but because there is a head bob, or something, it must have been homophobic and a “walk off” shot. WOW. PROJECT MUCH?
