The Path to Norman
Kip Lewis comes to Norman as a Texas high school football product. His first D1 offer came in December, 2020; within just a few months, the linebacker had offers from all over the country, including Texas, Texas A&M, LSU, and Notre Dame. His OU offer came in January; following a relatively short recruiting process and a visit for OU’s spring game, Lewis committed to the Sooners. Following the coaching change at OU, Coach Venables visited Lewis; Lewis stayed locked in with the Sooners as part of three insanely talented linebackers in the 2022 class (Kobie McKinzie and Jaren Kanak being the others).

Highlights
This Season
The 2023 inside linebacker room should prove to be a fun one. Danny Stutsman will start at one spot, with several others competing for the other starting job. Lewis, along with Jaren Kanak, Konnor Near, and Kobie McKenzie, will be a significant contributor at inside backer this fall as Coach Venables and co look to make this a position of strength.
