The Sooners picked up a commit from ’24 linebacker James Nesta (6’4 204) out of Cornelius, North Carolina!
Nesta was in Norman last weekend for the Sooners ChampU BBQ event and one look was all it took for the dual sport star. The Sooners offered him in early May and quickly moved toward the top of his offer list.
Oklahoma used its track record of developing dual sport athletes to its advantage as both Brent Venables and the football program and Skip Johnson and the baseball program made winning pitches to the linebacker/pitcher.
Nesta chose the Sooners over Miami and the home state Tarheels of North Carolina. He also held offers from USC, Tennessee, North Carolina State and Kentucky among a dozen or so others.
