The Path to Norman
Rondell Bothroyd was a three-star athlete out of Connecticut. He joined Wake Forest in 2018, where he spent five seasons. Bothroyd was a consistent starter and solid pass rusher. Following the 2022 season, Bothroyd decided to spend his final collegiate season in Norman with the Sooners.

Career so Far
Bothroyd took a redshirt season in his first season at Wake. In 2019, he started seeing significant playing time, playing in 12 games and starting in half of them.
He continued that trend in a shortened season in 2020, then really stepped up in 2021. Bothroyd was fourth on the team in tackles and led the team in TFL (ranking 18th nationally).
In 2022, Bothroyd was again a big presences on the line, using his ability to create pressure to make TFL and sacks.

Highlights
This Season
Throughout the offseason, plenty of players have been mentioned as impressing the staff. One of the names most consistently heard has been Bothroyd, with particular note of his work ethic and physical ability.
With the ability to play the edge or interior, he could be used in a few different ways. However, Bothroyd ended the spring slotted as one of the starters at defensive end. Ethan Downs, Reggie Grimes, R Mason Thomas, Trace Ford, and P.J. Adebawore will all work at defensive end as well. With his experience and ability, Rondell Bothroyd can be a leader for this group and looks prepped for a big season in 2023.
