According to Jerry Fowler of CBS Sports, Oklahoma has now officially filed a waiver request seeking immediate eligibility for wide receiver Dorial Green-Beckham. It had been previously reported that OU was waiting on some final paperwork from the University of Missouri, obviously Green-Beckham’s former program, before they would be able to file the waiver request. Evidently they have now received everything they felt necessary and the decision now rests in the hands of the NCAA.
As is the case with virtually any decision from college football’s governing body, there is no timetable as to when you can expect an answer on whether this request is approved or denied. The earlier Oklahoma could get the request submitted, the better the chances of it getting approved prior to Green-Beckham missing any significant time on the field. And of course the scenario of any potential time missed would only be relevant should the NCAA approve the request, which is in no way whatsoever a sure thing.
And so we wait.

So the waiting games begins…..
they didnt approve jalen’s request until right before the notre dame game…not holding my breath for anything before the season
I’ve said a number of times anyone who tells you they can predict when/what the NCAA will do is lying to you, but I feel incredibly confident you’re right in that we won’t have any answer prior to the season starting.
if he does get approved, where do you see him as a receiver compared to Justin Brown? Is he a more explosive player?
Brown isn’t even in the same area code as DGB.
And that’s no slight to Brown.
Exactly. Brown could actually be a starting WR in the NFL. Just not a top 5 receiver in the NFL, within a year.
Brown was a solid wr and reliable in the return game. But DGB is a far better player and should be able to fit in nicely especially if he’s taking this shot with ou as serious as he should be.
Is Megatron an explosive player? This kid has Top 10 draft pick potential…He was the #1 recruit in his class. Unreal size, speed, and strength combination. And our secondary is having trouble tackling him.
Outside of Metoyer, who’s the highest rated WR recruit we’ve ever brought it? Anyone even close to #1 like DGB? Quick at No. 6 WR (247sports.com) is the closest I can think of.
the short answer is NO! I do remember Josh Jaraboe?? I believe he was a fairly high rated receiver coming out of high school… cant really think of any other.. Malcolm Kelly was a bigger receiver but still not like DGB…
Kelly a bigger WR then Doral?? Not even close.
Not what I said, not even close to what I said….. Kelly is 6’4″ Id say that’s considered a bigger receiver.. wouldn’t you?? but still nothing like DGB who is 6’6″….
According to Rivals, Metoyer at a 6.1 is the best WR recruit we’d had in the past decade. Just behind him are Jameel Owens, Adron Tennell, Malcolm Kelly and Josh Jarboe at 6.0….. Not exactly an All-Star list….
Josh Jarboe had an offer list that made him look like a 5*. There was as much excitement about him as there was about Metoyer. Sadly, both were off the field busts.

I’ll answer your question with another question: how did Adrian Peterson compare to Chris Brown?
Same difference.
Uh not even close. Doral is a 1st round talent.
I’d be ok if he came out like Saunders (against texas)…not sure how it works but both cases are different…do they go to the same office…I think they had to do follow up on the Saunders case since it was medical….they have everything they need here…if they are going to rule like they did for OSU and Memphis then there shouldn’t be much doubt that he gets approved
That would be great timing. Good to have him on the field heading into the meat of the schedule and the whorns having no recent film or any way to know how he is being utilized.
it was texas…he was practicing scout team during the week when they found out and they immediately switched him to the 1s
Yeah, I can’t imagine the NCAA clearing him in what, 18 days? And even though it doesn’t appear to be OU’s fault, I’d think the NCAA wouldn’t really like getting something like this dumped on them so late in the process too. Shame it has to be like that, but I wouldn’t expect an answer until a couple of weeks into the season. Be nice to get him for WVU or TCU, heading into our toughest stretch of games there in the middle of the season.
I’ll just assume he won’t be eligible. Makes life easier.
You go about business believing he will not play, like they did a few years ago in regards to Jalen Saunders and if it happens, you go with it.
I really, really want to see him, Durron Neal and Sheppard on the field at the same time, with Bell running a little drag.
And Mixon flaring out of the backfield?
And shannon with his helmet on the sidelines.
Amen to that.
standing next to the other No. 20 with his helmet.
Not sure this is gonna work. Borrowing this

I’d like to see what Cartoons Plural has for opposing teams. Reports state that he has been playing well during practice.
Would be nice to have that deep threat by 2nd Sat. Oct.
One of the saxeT sites had an OU analysis article where they snarked “thank you Metoyer!” about that issue. They thought their D might ignore the deep ball given our personnel this year as known so far.
Would love to see TK choose from many blue-chip options in every square yard of the (old) Cotton Bowl.
Saw that article too
Yeah I’ll go ahead and trust some ut shmuk’s opinion over Jay Norvel’s! If the new ut staff is dumb enough to believe that, then bombs away! I hope so.
I think Ian Boyd wrote the article. In my opinion, the dude’s a closet OU fan.
He just recognizes greatness when he says it.
Lololololol …. Sometimes he’s not so in the closet about it… Although he wasn’t a big Colvin fan, which still makes me SMH
I read that Durron Neal is looking good in camp. How good of a deep threat is he at this point? Secret weapon stuff?
I’m thinking we’ll have some “secret weapons” surprise our opponents, maybe not as great as TK surprising ‘Bama, but something like that.
I think OU has plenty of weapons…
I’m thinking secret weapons too. Even if we don’t necessarily have a deep threat, when you add in what should be a significant contribution from the TE (particularly Blake Bell) and a legit dual-threat qb, we should have plenty in the arsenal to keep defenses on their heels. But if we can add to that a true deep athletic receiver like DGB or if Neal can fill that position, that could make this offense truly elite IMO.
Every article I read that he’s written about OU screams “I’m a HUGE fan!”. Never understood his beef w/Colvin, though…
Exactly…. He’s fairly open in praising Bob & the evolution of the program
Why would the NCAA allow him to play? He did play last year, didn’t he?
he was forced off the team and there is a rule that allows those forced off their team to get immediately eligibility at other d1 schools
Thanks for the info. I didn’t know about that rule.
The gray area to that rule though, is if it was out of his control. The
rule says it has to be out of the players control as to why he was
kicked off the team. Since he was only accused by word of mouth that he
had entered that apartment, and that he was never accused by court of
law I would say that was out of his control. Now its up to the NCAA to decide.
I honestly think the NCAA will let DGB play. The question is when will they sign off? I think the NCAA is feeling lots of pressure from having out of date rules and some think the dumb rules may be the downfall of the NCAA. However I think it would be almost impossible for all the major conferences to leave the NCAA and become a new league (because forming a new league would probably mean zero games for a year) but I also think the NCAA can’t take as many hard stances against players and universities.
I hope like anything you’re right, but your opinion is definitely the minority view. IMO his chances are almost zero. Maybe not quite…..but almost. But like I said…..I hope you’re right.
I know most people don’t think he has a chance they just hope he gets to play. And I don’t think he really deserves to unless mizzou signs off saying they “overreacted” to his last incident and that they moved on as a team prior to finding out that DGB did nothing. (Or something along those lines) and I think mizzou did.
I hope this moves really fast but the only chance of that happening is if they new it was coming and discussed it in advance to be prepared for a quick decision.
