The Sooners picked up their second commitment of the “24K” class as quarterback Michael Hawkins publicly announced his verbal pledge to Jeff Lebby and Oklahoma!
Hawkins (6’2.5 195) is playing his high school ball at Frisco Emerson this season after spending the last couple years at Allen (TX).
The Sooners were able to win the head-to-head battle with TCU for his pledge. OU has been a long-time player in this recruitment while TCU was relatively new to the chase as they only entered the picture when Kendal Briles took his offensive coordinating skills from Arkansas to TCU.
Hawkins is a guy that has ties to several other OU offers in the region, including his brother (’25 DB Maliek) who was offered recently by Oklahoma.
With the commitment from Hawkins, Sooners OC Jeff Lebby has his QB room figured out, on paper at least, through the ’25 cycle as Jackson Arnold is now on campus, Hawkins is his ’24 QB, and Kevin Sperry is committed in the ’25 class.
Hawkins father spent a bit of time at OU as a football player so this is a legacy commit and the family is quite familiar with both Norman and Brent Venables.
Nice pickup for OU as Hawkins joins DB Jeremiah Newcmobe in the ’24 class for OU!
