Robert Spears-Jennings come to OU as a highly-ranked defensive back out of Broken Arrow, OK. The Sooners had Spears-Jennings to camp in the early summer of 2021, where he received his offer on an unofficial visit. Not long after that, the in-state product committed to Oklahoma. In his senior season following the committment, Spears-Jennings had a breakout season, showing off his measurables and speed.

This Season
Spears-Jennings has worked with the safeties during the offseason. On Monday’s depth chart, he was the only true freshman listed in the secondary. The free safety spot will start with Key Lawrence, with Justin Broiles, Spears-Jennings, and Damond Harmon all listed as options. However, Spears-Jennings has the versatility to play elsewhere depending on the need. With the skillset he brings, Spears-Jennings could very well end up as one of the main safeties in rotation by this year’s end and a big factor during his time in Norman.
