100 Days to Football Time in Oklahoma: #13 Shane Whitter

The Path to Norman

Shane Whitter attended Walter M Williams High School in Burlington, North Carolina. He played football all over the field, mostly at linebacker and tight end. Whitter was committed to Wake Forecast for several months of 2019 and didn’t seriously look around until Oklahoma came knocking. After a visit to Norman for the TCU game, he flipped from Wake Forest to the Sooners.

Career so Far

Whitter played right away his freshman season, appearing in nine of 11 games. He played both at linebacker and on special teams. During the Cotton Bowl blowout, Whitter received extended minutes and looked really good.

Highlights

This Season

Inside linebacker is one of the best and deepest position groups for Oklahoma this season. David Ugwoegbu, Brian Asamoah, DaShaun White, and Caleb Kelly will make up a two-deep composed entirely of players with extensive starting experience. However, that is a group of two seniors and two juniors who could potentially all be gone by 2022. Shane Whitter will keep pushing for more minutes this season, looking forward to next season as one of the faces of the future of this Speed D.
