Quick Hitter | Kaden Helms
– Charlie S – Posted on: July 10, 2021
Spoke to K recently and he just wanted to pass along an update on his confidence level of the possibility of ’22 TE Kaden Helms committing to OU on the 17th.
The update reads as:
Malachi Nelson’s Top Seven
– Charlie S – Posted on: July 11, 2021
For those of you counting who the potential ‘Head to Head’ matchups are for OU…here you go.
Nelson will announce his decision on July 18th as Super K was first to report way back on April 28th.
I don’t think it needs to be said, but we continue to feel very, very good about where things are at with Nelson and OU.
Dayne Shor | Quick Update
– Super K – Posted on: July 12, 2021
Just to keep things on the offensive line recruiting front clear for you all, I wanted to pass along a note regarding recent OU official visitor Dayne Shor (Alpharetta, GA).
Latest I have heard is that the Sooners like the current class they have and are going to focus on other prospects to fill out the remainder of the class. In other words, it sounds like the Sooners pursuit of Shor is either paused or finished.
Kenyatta Jackson | What we are Hearing
– Super K – Posted on: July 12, 2021
Jamar Cain has already pulled in one top defensive end in DMV area star, Derrick Moore (St. Frances Academy).
The Sooners would still like to add an elite rush guy and Kenyatta Jackson (Hollywood, FL) remains the focus.
What we are hearing is that two schools standing out the most to Jackson are Oklahoma and Ohio State and we are told that Oklahoma has somewhat of a lead.
I’m working on getting you an approximate announcement timeline for Jackson but the feeling we get is that this one is trending OU.
It’s been so long since the Sooners have been able to go into places like Maryland or Florida or really anywhere and grab high 4-star and 5-star type defensive linemen. So, you’ll have to excuse me for still being a little cynical.
But Cain continues to make me believe. He had a great pull last year in high 4-star DE, Clayton Smith. It was an impressive pull but it was a regional pull.
That’s why the Moore pull was so impressive by Cain. No connection to the school or the region and he lands a top 100 defensive lineman.
If he can go into Florida and take a player like Jackson from Ohio State, Clemson, Alabama, etc. I will be blown away.
Malik Agbo Has Sooners in ‘Fab 5’
– Charlie S – Posted on: July 12, 2021
Sooners 2022 OL target Malik Agbo has cut his list down to five…
The fact that OU is in his top five should not be a surprise to you all.
Back on July 1st, I mentioned that Agbo told me he planned on making a return trip to Norman for the Nebraska game…
‘Agbo tells me that he currently plans on announcing his decision in mid-November.
So that will be a long time since he had been in Norman…right?
Wrong.
Agbo let me know that he currently plans on getting out to Norman for a game this season. I asked him when that may occur, and he said “I plan on going to the game vs Nebraska in Norman. I heard that one is the one to go to!”’
So while OU making the list is no shocker, several programs absent from the list are notable, at least in my opinion.
There has been a lot of buzz about Texas (from other places, not TFB Texas) that they were heavily in the mix. We never got that from him though, but perception-wise, they were often discussed as a top school.
Then you have the home state Huskies. Washington did not make the cut and Super K had noted previously that he did not feel Agbo was destined to stay in the state.
USC is also a program I was a bit surprised not making the list but it looks like ASU took their spot as a west coast representative…and I don’t see that playing out with the issues going on out there right now.
This is a very winnable situation for Oklahoma and while he plans on announcing his decision in November, if he does make it to Norman for the Nebraska game (or a subsequent date if travel cannot be arranged for the rooster kick) I think there is a good possibility that OU could come out of it with a silent commit at the very least.
