The Path to Norman
Drakeβs father was a long-time employee with the University of Oklahoma. Mr. Stoops worked as a visor model and media correspondent for almost twenty years, retiring in 2017. His son Drake decided to play ball where his dad had worked. The Norman North, Oklahoma product joined the Sooners as a preferred walk-on.

Career so Far
Stoops took a redshirt season in 2018. He appeared in two games, snagging a couple of catches and looking good in his playing time.
Drake played a larger role in 2019. He saw snaps in all 14 games at receiver and earned time at punt returner as well. He was named to Academic All-Big 12 First Team for the year.

2020 Season
Stoops has continued to put on size since last season, up roughly 10 pounds since this time last year. Receiver depth in 2020 is a bit scattered. Charleston Rambo and Theo Wease are proven leaders at the spot. Trejan Bridges (suspended) and Jadon Haselwood (injured) wonβt be immediately available, but also fall into the leader group. Drake has experience as well.
After that, there are a lot of new faces. Transfers Theo Howard and Obi Obialo, along with freshmen Trevon West, Marvin Mims, and Brian Darby, fill up a talented but inexperienced group. Stoopsβ experience should help him continue to earn snaps in 2020, building on the legacy of the Stoops family in Norman.
