FOOTBALL
I refuse to give them the traffic by linking to it, but just know (if you care, and I suspect you don’t – nor should you really) yesterday was a low point in Tulsa World sports page history after they published a story titled ‘Who are the Big 12’s best-looking coaches? Here are the top 5’
I’m not sure which is more embarrassing – them producing complete crap like this or how this time every year they attempt to cover recruiting, despite ignoring it almost entirely for the other nine months of the year, and in spite of having no clue who/what they’re writing about simply because there is nothing else going on.

Former OK State WR (who came out early and went undrafted), Josh Stewart, tore his Achilles. (Instagram)
Nick Saban is getting PAID. (ESPN)
I’d urge you to strongly consider the source, but Berry Tramel says OU has the No. 7 ranked non-con schedule in the Big 12. Behind TCU & Iowa State, who play a D-II school (admittedly, the best in the country, but still). (NewsOK)
Two A&M players were kicked off the team. (Twitter)
Not entirely sure why you’d want to do this in the first place, but it must suck to have to go back three years in order to be able to do so. But sucking is just part of the gig being an OSU fan, right? (PFB)
Sports Illustrated says Fox is killing off it’s Saturday AM college football show b/c no one watched. (Football Scoop)
My advice for Mack Brown would be decidedly different than this take, but I certainly appreciated all the potshots taken. (DMN)
Some (I stress, some) interesting ideas here for how to, in theory, improve recruiting. (ESPN)

Kids today…..just don’t know how good they got it.
Can’t wait for the World Cup to get started (I know, I know, flame away).

Love watching kids who have no clue how life was before, makes me laugh every time.
Go figure. I remember our 1st TV (2 or 3 channels-all grainy) , big outside water cooler in the front window, party lines(rotary dial phones), and computers (not a clue). I didn’t feel poor because we had a 2-holer outhouse. Yep, oh the memories.
Lol The Internet video is like a nostalgia hit for me. I remember having to switch the phone out if you needed to get on, The Dial Up rage moments.. Good times. Kids nowadays have it good lol
I also remember waiting several minutes for a JPEG to load. Now I get pissed if Youtube buffers for a second!
I’m really hoping Bradford can come back healthy & finally have that breakout year we’re all hoping for. I truly believe that it’s not his abilities. He was put into a crappy situation & it took until last year for the Rams to finally start adding players to the offense that will help him.
Can’t wait for the World Cup to start? Hum – I’ll let you watch for me while I take a nap.
Jordan-reading about Alabama coaches and their raises. Does the NCAA limit the number of coaches in football or any sport? I counted 11 in the Alabama article (includes Saban).
Yeah, there is definitely a limit. I believe it’s all sports, but I know for a fact there is a limit in football.
I went to Alabama’s official site and counted 10 coaches on staff, OU has the same so I presume that’s the limit.
1 head coach, 9 assistants, 2 graduate assistants is the rule.
They’ve bumped the grad assistants allowance up to four, and you’re also allowed ‘quality control’ assistants as well (OU has three of those)
ahh must have been a somewhat recent change, the article i pulled my info from was from 2010.
Yeah, it was in just the last couple years.
+1 on the world cup Jordan.
The Fox college football kickoff show (on Saturday’s) was terrible. Just a bad combination of personalities overall. I think Fox has some talented folks (I really like Joel Klatt, even though he beat us while at CU), but they have some terrible one’s too (Petros Papadakis).
The bottom line is that nothing can compete with Gameday. The only way I see someone else taking the reigns (or at least challenging), is going to be if/when Herbstreet and Fowler leave. Lee Corso can be annoying, but he does bring some levity to the show. If I’m going to watch a kick-off show on Saturday, it’s going to be Gameday 10 times out of 10.
