TFB has been counting down the days to OU football with a spotlight on each member of the roster, spotlighting the player who corresponds with the days remaining. Today would have been 35 days until opening kickoff; now, it’s 28 days to go.
To avoid skipping players with numbers 41-35, TFB will be pushing out countdowns on double duty this week. For this week only, both numbers currently corresponding with the countdown (34-28) and those previously corresponding with the countdown (41-36) will be receiving a spotlight. The result will be that the countdown will be fully “caught up” next Sunday, August 1st.
The Path to Norman
Shane Whitter attended Walter M Williams High School in Burlington, North Carolina. He played football all over the field, mostly at linebacker and tight end. Whitter was committed to Wake Forecast for several months of 2019 and didn’t seriously look around until Oklahoma came knocking. After a visit to Norman for the TCU game, he flipped from Wake Forest to the Sooners.

Highlights
2020 Season
Shane Whitter was clocked at a 4.51 forty his senior year and even ran in the 4.4’s at OU; that fits right into Alex Grinch’s ‘Speed D.’ He was the fourth-fastest player on the team prior to what would have been spring ball. At inside linebacker, DaShaun White and Caleb Kelly are the presumed starters, with Brian Asamoah and Bryan Mead the first two behind them. However, Whitter is getting the kind of talk that’s hard to ignore. His elite speed will make it difficult to keep him off the field. Look for Whitter to work his way into playing time his freshman year on the way to a big career in Norman.
