100 (Original) Days to Football Time in Oklahoma: #39 Doug Collins By: Ryan Lewis Posted on: July 28, 2020

TFB has been counting down the days to OU football with a spotlight on each member of the roster, spotlighting the player who corresponds with the days remaining. Today would have been 39 days until opening kickoff; now, it’s 32 days to go.

To avoid skipping players with numbers 41-35, TFB will be pushing out countdowns on double duty this week. For this week only, both numbers currently corresponding with the countdown (34-28) and those previously corresponding with the countdown (41-36) will be receiving a spotlight. The result will be that the countdown will be fully “caught up” next Sunday, August 1st.

The Path to Norman

Doug Collins had quite the high school journey in Oklahoma. He played for Norman North, South Moore, and Westmoore throughout his four years. Current Sooner walk-ons Drake Stoops and Ryan Peoples also attended Norman North, while Brey Walker attended Westmoore. Collins went the JUCO route, attending Emporia State in Kansas. He then transferred to Oklahoma as a walk-on.

2020 Season

The secondary has plenty of options in 2020, with many having playing experience. It will be hard for Collins to earn playing time this season, but he’ll be able to keep working to earn snaps during his time in Norman.
